Remember when Bush was president and gas prices shot up? Who got the blame from both Dems and MSM? George W. Bush, of course.

Gasoline went up $.25 a gallon in the last few days... and not a word from DC or the press. Even though high gas prices hurt the working poor more than increases in any other commodity.

Why the silence, Pelosi? Did you discover you were wrong about the problem being Bush & Cheney's fault... or maybe you're busily looking for a way to KEEP blaming them for it?

    The double standard is amazing:

Obama's such an innocent lil lamb. No matter how bad things get in our economy, he can't be blamed for anything.

November can't get here soon enough... it's time to send this do-nothing president back to Chicago.

I looked at all of those links. Not one of them actually blames Obama. The closest I saw was one story saying that "Obama has huge political challenges ahead" - saying that "Obama has a decision he has to make" regarding allowing the pipeline (something that Obama has ALREADY been blocking, and getting a virtual complete pass on in the media).

If you cannot admit that Obama is not getting criticized in the media in the same way as Bush and Cheney were about oil prices, you're being dishonest with the forum.

Indeed. I never claimed they did. I am not sure what your comment has to do with me.

Maybe because you posted numerous links in an effort to prove Obama's getting just as much heat as Bush got.

Unfortunately, you were caught comparing apples & oranges and your attempt failed.

Why do you hate the free market so much? Do you actually want the POTUS to control petrol prices?

So what's new? Obama=MSM/MSM=Obama. We all know that. As to the guy with all those links...so what? Most people come home from work (if they have a job) and those that don't, turn on the tele at dinner time. That's where they get their news which plays a big part on how they are influenced to form an opinion. Most don't go to those internet sites.

I did not. Your original statement.

This is clearly the portion that I was disputing, and it does appear to be incorrect, and I provided numerous links where the press reported stories about rising gas prices.

Why on earth are they comparing the first 26 months of the Presidencies of Bush and Obama, when the global economic and political situation were completely different and the Pelosi comments came towards the end of the Bush administration's time in the White House? And what about the correlation between the Iraq War and the spike in oil prices? And I've never heard that Obama has strong ties to the oil industry or the Saudis, again unlike George Dubya.

This so-called analysis looks an awful lot like something I'd wipe my backside with after a trip to the bathroom. No, I take that back: it looks an awful lot like something that came off my backside after wiping it at the end of a trip to the bathroom. How about showing the whole 8 years of the Dubya Presidency and the trend of oil prices over that space of time before (once again) taking a meaningless cheap shot at President Obama.

I bet the Obama Administration loves it when a plan comes together. Rising gas prices might hurt the American people, but it's music to the ears of politicians who dream of green energy. Too bad their dreams seem to be turning into nightmares... and middle class Americans are the ones who are paying for their blunders.

Interesting comment from 2008. Hold on to your wallet was good advice.

    From your link.

In a sign of one major internal difference, Mr. Chu has called for gradually ramping up gasoline taxes over 15 years to coax consumers into buying more-efficient cars and living in neighborhoods closer to work.

Gas taxes have not gone up. What is affecting the price is the free market.

What about DC? Heard Obama say anything about high gas prices recently? Pelosi? Reid?

Grasping at straws, TFM. Appears the price of gasoline doesn't affect you much or you wouldn't be trying to cover for Barack.

Millions of Americans are having to choose whether to buy gas to get to work or food for their family's table. A small 'I feel your pain' coming from the Oval Office would be nice to hear. At least give us the delusional impression he cares.

PRESIDENT Obama did lower gas prices many times by releasing oil reserves but he can't do that everytime, Americans know he is not responsible for the oil wars as he made it clear that he is taking over where Bush left off

    My point is this.

You claimed a "plan" was coming together and was somehow affected gas prices.

However, that plan involved raising fuel taxes, and that has not happened. What has happened is pure, simple capitalism.

    Let's see here.

While Bush was president, gas shot up due in part to instability in the middle East, caused by...wait for it...president Bush and his war mongering.

In the last year, gas has steadily gone up in price due in part to instability in the middle east, caused by...the Arab Spring, which had little to do with Obama except for his genius in getting things done efficiently over there (helped end the Ghaddafi regime without a US casualty or much money spent, caught Bin Laden and many of his leaders, finally got us out of Iraq, etc) while not exposing the US to as much collateral damage or collateral cost as Bush.

    Try again Smartmouth.

How much is gas in your neighborhood, BT? Which matters most... who's to blame or who cares?

Obama seems to be exempt from both.

There ya go. Selective memory. Bush started all this BS invading a country for no reason (except to show off his "mission accomplished" artificial bulge).

    Please make up your mind.

The fact that the left does everything it can to reduce the supply of energy in this country is why the price of energy continues to rise. If they would come around and see the light, and build nuclear power plants across this country, plugging cars into the wall would become affordable. The demand for fossil fuels would drop like a rock. Cheap energy is bad for socialism.
