Yet there is not much difference between the two procedures and if a child is suicidal is that also a medical necessity?

What if she is not suicidal but caught up in the latest fad?

I think the objective reasons are more heavily weighted to athletics. I question claims of "suicide" when it is in pre-puberty kids

And that is why there should be, in any ethical society, safeguards. Places like Boston Children’s hospital will have a team to discuss multiple aspects first. Thing is the fractured nature of the American healthcare system. It is fine to tout useless and in many cases dangerous hokum nostrums to anyone including teens.

    Meanwhile

    https://www.plasticsurgery.org/news/briefing-papers/briefing-paper-plastic-surgery-for-teenagers

More than twice the number are having breast reductions and a massive number are getting a multitude of other cosmetic surgeries

Then why do so many “red states” still allow child marriage?

No the most common reason is that when you have big breasts as a teen the nicest compliment is

“yerrrr give us a look at yer tits!”

And comments like that are constant and unwelcome

I agree with your sentiment that these kids should be accepted for who they are, even as they are trying to figure it out, but you're judging them based on your own experiences, and since what we are really talking about is a complex medical issue, your posts up to this last post don't convey an atmosphere of love and acceptance.

First off, this is an extremely rare situation where parents come to these mental health professionals seeking advice and help. I have a hard time thinking this situation is being exploited for profit by anyone with a medical degree in this country. Sure, you may have one or two bad actors, but in this country, there is a habit of suing people for not performing as expected of a professional.

Based on your posts, I feel you're buying hook line and sinker the propaganda by the extreme right, which is fundamentally fueled by religious perceptions. That is the driving force behind these attacks on trans people. The religious right have moved beyond the gay issue (because even they can see they've lost that battle already) and are now directing to these kids, which may or may not be trans to begin with, but obviously are suffering from something. I'd rather let the doctors and the parents deal with this than let total strangers with a hidden agenda dictate what course they should take. I feel that way about any medical issue.

What you appear to be describing is a mastectomy, not breast reduction surgery.

Many women with breast augmentation, or breast reduction, are still able to breastfeed, so long as they go to a competent plastic surgeon for the procedure. However, if a woman feels she is really a man, the entire concept of breastfeeding is probably nowhere in their mindset now, or in the future.

Unless of course, you are of the mindset that all women are just breeding machines, which you seem to be implying with this line of argument.

    Thank you.

That was my entire point to Bowerbird.

Please read the entire thread and respond to her.

We are not talking about women; we are talking about girls.

Note the title of the thread: "The mind-blowing evil of slicing off young girls’ breasts."

And are these girls making this decision on their own? No, they are not.

it's not a medical issue it's a cultural and psychological issue. And in general it may just be part of growing up.

I'm not judging anybody except for the people that make fortunes on it.
    they should pick different ones.
so why did it just now become a thing?
    They are.
better than buying the propaganda of the extreme left that is saying we need to allow plastic surgery on 16-year-olds. And other surgeries that damage them.
anytime anybody ever says anything about a subject that the left defense agrees with, the left makes up this thing about attacking people. I'm not attacking people I'm making an argument that doesn't involve anything to do with attacking anybody.

So you can carry on about your religious Boogeyman it's left-wing drivel.
if anything I see transactivism as doing to gay people what the church used to do to gay people. Because we're not the new hotness anymore.
I don't care what conspiracy theories and hate groups you manifest I think malpractice is something that is the business of the public at Large.

Again transgendered post-op survivors are already assuming these doctors that's happening.

You haven't proven that, but you have proved other things that go beyond the scope of this thread. It's quite clear you're motivated by some personal angst over something that has happened to you personally. So I will bow out, as there is nothing fruitful to be gained here.

I have to prove damaging a 16 year olds reproductive system is malpractice?

What kind of backward nonsense is that?
You're just projecting personal motives onto me because you can't argue against my points.

It's okay run away. It's what I expected. Call me names and flee I can't expect any more out of the left.

I read a study that found the following-men who are attracted to big racks tend to be emotionally immature and sometimes intellectually stunted.

True. In any ethical society, parents have enough social conscience to raise kids who are not easy prey to fads.

It's actually true, as odd as it might sound. It's really about being attracted to the 'overt' signals which are usually artifice or anomalous. IE oversized breasts, make up, high heels, etc etc. It's a learned response - and it's cultural, not animal.

Being caught up in fads is a symptom of low self-esteem. That's parental failure.
