Incredible. You worry about "spreading hatred" of Islam. It just kills you doesn't it....to point a finger at Islam. Islam, Atheism and the irreligious stand together, birds of a feather...because I believe the values are shared. But I digress...

The cartoonists didn't require security because of Jews or Christians. They didn't fear for their lives or the lives of their families because of Jews and Christians. Everytime they sent out a Muhommad cartoon....they knew they could receive another fire bomb. The point of this thread is stand with the concept of free speech....in the face of the threat of Islam. I'm sorry...that you stand so close to Islam that you wish to deflect the finger from it and point it somewhere else. When you show cartoons of Jews or Jesus----Christians and Jews roll their eyes and Muslims that justify death for those who depict Muhommad laugh. Yeah....that is showing backbone.

 

No one should kill over a cartoon.
No one even should be offended over a cartoon.

It's not defending Muslims to mock Jesus any more than mocking Mohammed defends Christians.

Sure it is. Atheists seem to think that all religions are bad and destructive, but when Islam is targetted for very real and obvious atrocities they deflect to Jews and Christians. There is a clear pattern on this forum....and it goes like this. A thread attacking Islam soon deflects to attacking Christianity. A thread attacking Christianity stays on topic and gets more mocking and vile as it goes.

And here we have a thread to depict Mohommad to show Islamic fanatics that we stand with free speech even in the face of threats----and the irreligious can't stay on topic. They want to focus on the easy targets that are tolerant of speech. That they a kinship with Islam and an animosity for.Judeo-Christianity is obvious.

 

Nontheists don't revere any religion.

Capitalism only seems to be useless to the more communist right. It is one reason why some on the more venturesome left, prefer to advocate for open interest in morals testing companies on a for-profit basis to exploit a market failure for morals testing; since drug testing doesn't get any of it very well.

Only a person in a bubble would assume that showing pictures mocking Jesus and Jews is worthy in a thread created because muslim fanatics can't tolerate free speech and killed people.

 

No I worry that the work of the brave left wing cartoonists who put their life on the line to mock islamic fundamentalism will be used by some right wing scum to further their agenda. An agenda that Charlie Hebdo hated and ridiculed frequently. Spreading hatred of Islam is the complete antithesis of what these cartoonists were about. You say these atheist cartoonists who died shared the same values as Islam, are you insane?

 

Atheism shares values with Islam. That is why you find VERY FEW atheists willing to focus on Islam's problems without deflecting hatred and disdain to more benign religions.

The Cartoonists were an anomaly--just like Bill Mahr is an anomaly. Christopher Hitchens was an anomaly and got a lot of flack from their own kind. I'm willing to bet its the irreligious AND muslims that come together and believes in hate speech laws to "prevent' this type of murder. Atheists on this forum just like in the majority of the world are too weak to stand up to Islam. The best thing that could happen for Islam is a country that turns irreligious because that is the first step to an Islamic country. A few brave Atheists don't matter in a sea of weakness.

All people around the world share common values. These are human values and predate the concept of religion.

 

Atheists have only one thing in common a lack of belief in God, beyond that nothing, so the only value that they have is completely opposite to the religion of Islam. Everything else you say falls at that first huge hurdle!
