I'd say, let us go through the season, and when it is finished, we will have our answer. We really don't know the wind, no matter how much we feel we do. And like the best of preseason prognostication, it's just that, nothing factual, nothing permanent, and no, Republicans are not tied to your wishes, no matter how much you wish it were so.

I think Trump only flourished because there was no Reagan-like figure to keep him on the fringes.
As for Scott, you underestimate him at your peril. The best recent comparable figure is Barack Obama, and not just because of race. Scott is that good.

You’ve got me wrong here, friend. I would love if a less extreme candidate were to win the GOP nomination. I just don’t suspect that will be the case.

Feel free to elaborate. I don’t see anything special here.

Ah. OK. They often have markings similar to Bernese. We had two over the years.

I suppose Obama didn’t offer much more than that either. You might be on to something.

The question is, does the right value that enough to get him through the primaries?

There will be more voters in the primaries than just the right.

Only 17 states have open primaries. If Scott is going to win the nomination, he’ll need the right in order to do it.

And he'll get some of the right, but his reach is broader. And don't forget that many on the right don't really favor DeSantis or Trump.

Some of the right isn’t going to cut it though. In the majority of states, only righties can vote for him in the primaries. He could go third party if he wants to make it to the general election, but we both know how that goes.

I don’t mean to keep harping on you, and after this I’ll stop if you’d prefer, but you see the difference between what you’re saying now and what you were seeing in the OP?

Not at all. I think I'm defending the OP right down the line. A significant danger for Scott will be Dems dumping money into far right campaigns against him.

I haven't heard too much of what he's had to say. I mean, he echos some of the regular talking points but all politicians do that.

I'd be willing to learn more. Most important to me is that he's not from the Fake Patriot Caucus or a Trump clone.

I'm equally as curious about Glenn Youngkin and Chris Sununu.

We need a more moderate politician more than ever right now, and it's time for a responsible Republican to be back in the White House, provided it's not Donald Dumpsterfire Trump. But then, I probably didn't need to add that last line to clarify, since I already said "responsible" which automatically disqualifies Trump.

Whether Scott can run on his lie that "Democrats have spread the message that America is irredeemable" is highly dubious.

Especially, since the Democratic Party has offered tangible progress and visions of hope in which the reality of Black representation is not the anomaly it is in the GOP.

Pennsylvania lawmakers elected the state's first Black female statehouse speaker — bringing the number of Black speakers to a new record in what Democrats call a change in the face of leadership...

State Rep. Joanna McClinton received the gavel after a party line vote, which made her the first woman and the second Black person to lead the Pennsylvania chamber.

But beyond The Keystone State, this means there are now a record-breaking six Black statehouse speakers across the country...

In addition to McClinton, ... the five other speakers are all Democrats.

They include: Illinois's Chris Welch; Maine's Rachel Talbot Ross; Maryland's Adrienne A. Jones; Michigan's Joe Tate; and New York's Carl Heastie...

Last November, Democrats flipped legislative chambers in key states such Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Michigan, which also gave them "trifecta" or total control in some important swing states ahead of the 2024 presidential contest.

58 Black Americans have been elected to serve in the 118th Congress.

56 of them expose Scott's lie that "Democrats have spread the message that America is irredeemable."

Tim Scott can hope for Trumpy Republican Scott Adams' endorsement, but it won't earn him much support.

Being Black doesn't really change the Democrat playbook. Scott will simply be the new black face of white supremacy. Black Republicans can only win in safe Republican districts or States. Any race that is competitive with Democrats the Black Republican will lose.

Looking through Tim Scott on the Issues and I don't see a lot of RINO. Doesn't mean its not there... but what exactly are you talking about?

I confess I don't know much about him. I've heard the name, but thats about it, til today.

You posted that Scott's skin color would be a problem for dems as if that were a positive selling point for Scott.

I voted for Trump twice. I supported his policies. But now, my opinion is that Trump has no pathway to winning the general election against whoever the Democrat opponent is. So I don't know if denying Trump the Republican nomination is an "elitist globalist RINO strategy" or not, but it should be the strategy of Republicans who want a chance to win in 2024. Winning with DeSantis, Haley, or Scott is a better outcome than losing with Trump.

I think he would make a fine candidate for President or as a running mate with DeSantis or Haley.
