    China is in trouble

    https://www.reuters.com/business/en...e-costly-second-fiddle-renewables-2023-03-22/

China has made a huge mistake in its population numbers assessments. It has just seen a major property market crash and I am betting this will roll over into the energy sector. But bottom line THIS is why we need international agreements
    - to hold countries like China to account

Which is why this October I will be watching this
    https://worldsolarchallenge.org/2023-program/darwin-program
it is not just solar panels that these teams are looking at improving they are also looking at wind resistance, safety and batteries and of course the electric motors themselves. The video on that page is from 2019 and the Japanese had a motor that could do 130k on the solar/battery system. This year looks even better

Sure, no limit to the size and power.

You just need a diesel fired generator on board. We already got a template for that, the diesel electric locomotive. The EV batteries are essentially based on electrical mining carts - that was the template for them. Diesel electric can be very efficient.

Yes it can and those mega trucks in the mines are diesel electric

BTW have you looked at the solar challenge link yet? Should make anyone with an interest in cars and races take a second look

But nobody is making diesel electric automobiles for sale.

    Why not?

    LOL!

Your HVAC uses electric motors that run 24*7 for years, sometimes decades, actually "doing work".

Commuter trains carry MILLIONS of people 24*7 for decades using electric motors, actually "doing work".

The SAME motor that can propel a Tesla that fast can ALSO pull a fully loaded Semi tractor trailer.

    WTF?

So because your neighbor beats his wife that makes it ok for everyone else to beat their wives too?

    You picked the WRONG example!

India and China are Authoritarian regimes, much the same as your Traitor-in-Chief tried to create here in America.

Whatever happened to "American Excellence" or was that just more GOP swamp gaslighting?

FTR EV battery packs are getting closer to the $100/kwh breakeven point where they will become CHEAPER than ICE technology.

Only a matter of time now.

That's like saying there's no limit to daylight hours if the sun never sets.

And that's exactly why I don't take your posts seriously.

How do these stupid international agreements hold China to account without any serious enforcement mechanism?

What are other countries supposed to do, wave their private parts in China's general direction?

We'll certainly see when the EVs start running out of charge in the middle of the desert somewhere.

And this is the same woke military that screwed up the Afghanistan withdrawal. Climate change is the biggest threat we face? Do they mean besides folks with guns, missiles, warships, and nuclear weapons?

And you take these idiots seriously?

Nothing yet to enforce. China doesnt yet need to reduce CO2 and have only agreed to stop increasing at some date in the future. They are upholding their end of the agreement, continuing to increase CO2.

Absolutely correct. But some people think that just because China signed on to something stupid, they're going to honor that in the future.

Instead they're playing the West for the rubes they have become.

How's China doing with their strategic oil reserves?

Last I hear they were building new tanks to fill.

Makes sense - in a war the enemy can always slow an offence by denying you resupply ie blow up the fuel supply chain but it is sodding hard to blow up a solar charger, and yeah we may not be able to use them for tanks - yet but these days a lot of the hard grunt is being done by drones
