According to most Christian churches, all humans are bound to the sins of Adam and Eve, but what about the sins of our other ancestors? Does having an ancestor who murdered someone make you a murderer in the eyes of God?

I do not believe in original sin. I believe that a person who never sins, such as a newborn baby, is innocent in the eyes of god. I also believe that people who have never heard of Christ will be judged on how they lived and not whethor they are saved or not.

And where do those beliefs come from?

The idea that if the ONLY possible way to get to heaven was through chirst than there would be countless people that came before christ, and people who died without even knowing about christ who would be barred from heaven.

According to most churches, you have to go through Jesus. Anyone who is not saved by christ under no currcumstances will enter heaven.

The problem of the ignorant pagan befuddles us because it doesn't seem fair that he should be judged when he never knew Christ.

If there is a loophole for ignorant pagans, none of us on this forum will be able to take advantage of it. We are surrounded by Christianity and have full access to knowledge of Christ.

So look to your own fate, which is a more pressing concern than someone else's.

In effect, missionaries are helping to send lots of people to hell.

    That must be fun.

the original sin was washed away by the blood of Christ.

You aren't responsible of the act of you ancestor though it is a good thing to acknowledge them and learn from them. You may even pray for those who were wrong and for your ancestor soul.

Believer and non believer will be judge by their deeds and thought. Believing by itself isn't enough, you have to follow the teaching also.

Well, the biggest single Christian church agrees with you, in part. They say that Christ saves those unbaptized babies, and/or those people who have never been exposed to Christ.

Well, it might be a bit of a power trip. I mean, think about it. You're exposing people to an idea that you're not sure they'll accept. Without exposure, they won't go to hell, but with it, there's that possibility.

I can already imagine the feeling of excitement as you tell people about the stories and wait to see if they accept them as true or if they choose not to believe and send themselves to hell.

Man... come to think of it, that must really be validating for people who've always wanted others to believe them.

THe catholics believe that unbabtised babies go to Purgatory, the first circle of hell.....That doesn't seem like Christ saving them to me.

No, Limbo is where the people who die before judgement day go. No one goes to heaven or hell until jesus judges them at the end of days. However, Catholics believe that because of orginal sin, any babies who die before being babtised, which cleanses them of original sin, are sent to Purgatory, instead of going to heaven. Purgatory is supposed the least evil level of hell, reserved for people who were not saved, but did not commit any sins.

The reason I don't like this belief is because God is the one who chooses to kill them. Think about it, God alones controls death, at least when humans' free will is not involved. So God chooses to kill the child and then punishes the child for dying, even though God himself caused it.

Alot of wt catholics belief are not in scripture. The Popes over the centuries have proclaimed new laws and ideals and under Catholic dogma the Pope is infalible in the eyes of God.....This idea is not from the bible.....Th Catholics also moved the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday to disassociate themselves from Jews.

If you are asking if I believe that the bible is the literal word of god, no I do not. I believe that the writers of the bible added their own interpatation of what god's will was, which is why every Gospels has different versions of the same events. I believe that the bible is more of a guidebook of how god wants us to live our lives and is full of parables like the ones Jesus told. They are not meant to be taken literally. Then there is the fact that there are books, like the Gospel of Mary Magdeline which were kept out of the bible because the men who were putting the bible together did not want a woman being seen as the equal of the male Apostles.

No - safe enough in the US - no Christians there, just fundamentalists with business interests and a few cranks.
