    The tactical dynamics of modern warfare do not favor columns of tanks, armored vehicles and ground forces trying to occupy territory. This was already shown in the Israel-Hezbollah war in 2006, most clearly in the Battle of Bint Jbeil and more recently in Saudi Arabia (plus 12 nation coalition's) genocidal campaign against the Houthis. As long as the invading ground forces face an enemy equipped with proper anti-tank missiles, precision guided artillery and drones, and other similar systems, that kind of warfare doesn't favor any armored or mechanized invading forces.

    In fact, modern weaponry is getting so good that war itself is increasingly impractical. It's immensely expensive and destructive, and at the same time our interconnected modern world does not look favorably on any aggressor. Anyone who starts a war is doomed to lose it.

    I wish that was the case, but dynamics of modern warfare are such that the real targets will be infrastructure, command and control and other strategic targets that basically shift focus from the battlefield to a much wider theater of operations.

    Blowing up infrastructure won't win a war, either. It motivates the target population to fight and resist.

    War is increasingly unacceptable to the vast majority of humanity as a means to achieve some geopolitical goal. The only hope for an aggressor is that his opponent is much weaker and has no outside support.

    yes and no...you are being myopic...if the aggressor is a side that has the international media largely in check or on its side, and wields diplomatic clout, then the majority of humanity will be as apathetic or worse as they are when it comes to the Saudi+ genocidal campaign against the Houthis...

    Would there be an issue with the Houthis if not for your regime's involvement? Might be as artificial a conflict as the one Russia created in Ukraine's east.

    ...on the battlefield....the plan all along was to downgrade Russian military equipment, personnel, command structure and logistical capability by scraping their current manifests, infrastructure, officer corps and other ranks in order to achieve a much smaller less capable and badly resourced military...these plans are being achieved and are right on track!

    and, also to turn the country into a pariah nation with an economy that's going down the crapper...
