Christmas break for kindergarten, primary school and secondary school is two weeks, and this is the last weekend. A lot of families go skiing in France, Switzerland, Italy and Austria. Because of the bad weather, avalanges and excessive snow -- thousands upon thousands of tourists are virtually trapped now...

The authorities are doing all they can to clear the roads...

Incredible. And it's just the opposite here in Wisconsin. Cool and no snow.

Good news! We here in Flanders were very worried about our Northern neighbours!

The 800 people who were evacuated are returning to their homes today! However, in the province nearby -- Friesland -- about 700 km of dikes has been checked and about 700m is weakened. Works are already underway. The evacuated cattle will probably return next week.

Evacués Groningen terug naar huis. Nooddijk voor Friesland

It's mild here, we don't appear to have had winter yet its been about 12c for weeks now, not much rain either which compared to last year when we had lots of snow (I say lots, for eastern England it was) is quite strange.

Today was sunny and rather warm here, about 10-12°C. Not that much wind. One could sit quite comforably with a thin sweater in the sun outside today and consuming a nice beer!

Not in summer, but it depends, really. It hasn't been very hot at all this summer.

Take tonight. It was cold today, its colder tonight and I'm in my dressing gown!

Well it is still spring time for us. Very unusual. 27 this morning here in Jackson and still no snow. Works for me cause I don't have to shovel it.

    Get real, Makedde...

About 23°C is ideal. When it gets hotter I become useless...

We are shivering our way through the coldest January day in decades. In other words, our coldest summer day.

    Its bloody cold!

Our first winter storm is on the way. 6-9 inches beginning Thursday morning and lasting until early Friday. Temps on the back side of the storm are 10-15F highs with overnight lows predicted to be in the single digits.

    OldTimer,...

About 95% of the world's population uses °C, and not °F.

For me, mentally, "0°" means the temperature on which water freezes.

Anyways,... I'm not going to learn to convert or to appease Americans when around 95% of the world's population knows what I'm talking about. Same with all that inch, mile, feet, gallon, oz. or whatever, it still remains utter BS.

Try to catch up with modern times, thanks.

The dates especially are very confusing...

I only get confronted with them on PF.com, but still...

For me that means 1st of September...

In my little corner of the Midwest, our 300+ days of no 1 inch+ snow days is going to come to an end. We're expecting 2-4 inches plus gusty winds Thursday. I HATE WINTER!

Yep, 01-09-2012 means the 1st of September.

Day - Month - Year. Logical.

I would be ok with reversing it all, as in 2012-09-01, 09:27 (Year - Month - Day, Hour : Minute).

But 01-09-2012 meaning the 9th of January is a bit confusing indeed.

Well the past couple of days it has been down in the below zero range as in -17 and -12. But now it is supposed to start getting warmer again with the temps going back up to the 20's in the morning. This is really a weird winter for us. Especially with the lack of snow.
