The family could not afford the trip to another state where an abortion would have been available.

Mississippi Republicans got what they wanted - child rape victims with no access to abortion.

Because the “somewhere else” was a nine hour drive away requiring mother and daughter to stay overnight etc etc etc

Trump is a despicable human being.

What, a guy who goes around as accuses my party of stealing the election, when, in fact, he is the one who is trying to steal the election, I'm suppose to be warm and fuzzy to this guy?

A guy that fornicated with a porn star just after his newly wed wife gives birth, and then pays her $130k hush money 2 weeks before an election, I'm supposed to respect him?

A guy that cheated his deceased brother's estate from their share of the inheritance, so instead of 1/5, he can get 1/4 of the estate, I'm supposed to write a shiny description of him?

A guy that cheats at golf ( a book was written about it) I'm supposed think he's the cat's pajamas?

What, Trump who tried to sue Bill Maher because Maher offered $5 million to the 'hairclub for orange dooshbags' if Trump could prove the he wasn't the lovechild of his mother and an orangutan, and Trump then ordered his lawyer to send Maher his birth certificate, which proved he was not the lovechild of his mother and an orangutan, and demanded payment,. when Maher refused, Trump took him to court for 'breach of contract' ,and the case as thrown out (a joke is not a contract) and I'm not supposed to think Trump is a total buffoon?

A guy that screws thousands out of millions for a fake university, I'm supposed to send him love letters?

A guy that calls us communists I'm supposed praise him?

A guy who was sued over 100 times for stiffing contractors, you want me to think he's cool dude?

A guy that whines all day long how he is being persecuted, when he has spent a life time screwing people over, like the time he tried to use eminent domain to deprive a widow from her home to build a limo garage, or the time he canceled his toddler nephew's health care policy, and he had cerebral palsy and I'm suppose to smile at the very thought of this monster?

I could go on, but apparently there are clues you have never discovered, and will forever be elusive to you.

It falls under the purview of health care.

    Call it whatever you want.

Mississippi isn't that big. It's 9 hours from Dallas to the middle of Mississippi. Jackson to Mobile is 3 hours. Jackson to Memphis is 3 hours. Jackson to Shreveport is just over 3 hours. All within a reasonable drive for less than $100 round trip and can be done in a day.

What has that got to do with this thread? Or are you just trying to deflect from my point?

Everything on that list is fact, and I can substantiate all of it, and much much much much more.

    He has NO redeemable qualities.

    that is the reason.

He is Rotten to the core. He lies about everything. Like the book he 'wrote', no, he didn't write it, Tony Schwartz did.

It boggles my mind that when a turd is on your plate, you can't smell it.

I didn't know this but Alabama doesn't allow abortions. However, Pensacola does (4 hrs) as do Shreveport and Memphis.

Women are “incubators” everywhere, with or without "a state”, otherwise they have to be sterilized. It's never okay to destroy nascent life. :(

    1000% it is the point.

The left wants to point out policies that they disagree with at the State level. In this case, abortion laws.

That's the beauty of the 10th Amendment. It puts the power and control in the citizens hands at the state level. If they disagree with the direction the state moves, they then have the freedom and ability to relocate to a state that better serves their ideals. It introduces a competition between the states and allows the citizens more opportunity to determine what best fits their ideological values.

Laws at the federal level prevent that. It's the 10th amendment is so important and the federal government needs to stay in their lane.

The constitution provides no such power to the federal government to enact laws that aren't specifically empowered to them. In this case, abortion.

    And?

In your mind, is abortion a "right"? And is that right afforded at the federal level?

Well obviously not anymore. Now the Republican view is there are no rights that weren’t listed out hundreds of years ago. I find that ridiculous. Even the founders didn’t think that, which is why we have the 9th amendment.

What does the timeline have to do with anything? Why does it matter it was hundreds of years ago?

The Constitution was not produced to give you rights. It was produced to PROTECT you from the federal government.

The 9th amendment continues in this theme by allowing any other rights to be retained by the people (and their states).

Yes, Mississippi has the latitude to treat it's population in horrible ways that the federal government doesn't proscribe, at least at present.

In this case, they claim that abortions for young rape victims are allowed.

It's worth pointing that this is absolutely FALSE.

It should be known what Republicans are advocating. And, that is determined by what they DO, not what anyone says.

You understand that new "rights" can be amended to the Constitution, right? Why haven't the Dems done that? They haven't even proposed it.
