Thousands march in Spain to protest against austerity measures, banks, politicians

MADRID — Tens of thousands of students, social groups and unemployed Spaniards rallied in more than 50 cities on Sunday to protest against government austerity measures and the role banks and political parties have played in the financial crisis.

The events were organized by two activist groups under the banner of “We aren’t merchandise in the hands of politicians and bankers.”

We the Spanish people are tired being lied, robbered by the establishment. We are starting to demand a change. A real democracy. Where we, the people, govern, and not the politics as dogs of the capital, it is the banks and the great corporations.

Yes , it's a pity that America never managed to win a war after WW11 and capitalise on real opportunities .
All the trillions spent on war fare has been the greatest waste of funds ever . No wonder you have 100 million at or near to poverty and riots just around the corner .

That's an interesting banner! Unfortunately, they and we most certainly are "merchandise in the hands of politicians and bankers". At least, there are a helluva lot of politicians (and bankers) that view the citizens as purchasable. Crony capitalism is alive and well, with both left and right doing "whatever it takes" to increase and maintain their own power as well as that of their dammed ideologies.

 

Pretty nutty idea...I bet they were not marching when those politicians were making promises they could not keep and delivering the Free Lunch on credit.

 

The left is not interested in making life better for their mobs...If life got better the mob would stop being of the left. No, they are simply interested in spreading misery into the realm of the well to do and competent.

I'm with you when it comes to eliminating the state. But when you go about killing people who want to trade freely and use what they want as money, then I will be against you. Yeah, and well I don't know why this old thread was revived, but well, I inform that this year marched again, and the support of the people is increasing. The people is opposing to the lose of the rights, to the lose of healthcare, public education...

And sorry but austerity only makes poorer the people. Austerity in crisis time is a fact that will increase the problems of the Spanish society. As we've seen in many countries the forced austerity only brings poverty to the more unprotected classes. Is that you want? Then vote the right.

The left what wants is equality, is that people live well.

 

I am not for killing anybody. I don't know from where you get that idea. The anarchists always have been pacifist. And one of the principles of anarchism is: Don't do to the others what you don't want that they do to you. It is a basic principle defended by all anarchists, however it is a principle that is not only defended by them.

 

Ah, and this year, not thousands, if not millions have marched, and also we've seen the deterioration of the democracy really fast. How the police has been agreded to peaceful demonstrators, to graphic reporters... They have arbitrary arrested people, just for being in the bad place in the bad moment. People that even didn't participate in the demonstrations, just were going out of some discotheque were arrested. That is the government against peaceful people.
