    Hey Uncle

Even more reason why Gillard should just stop trying to save the world and just be a care taker government.

I expect that it would have been the same at every previous election. I also expect that roughly equal votes were cast for both sides so in the end it is a no news story.

that is why we have scrutineers at every ballot box on count. Ideally the scrutineers also are membes of the local neighbourhood who can identify who is and is not truly that person.

Still 16,000 out of how many voters? is a very small number. One of the reasons why it is so small is the mandatory voting - it would be child's play to vote twice if you knew someone was not voting to vote instead - our system, a very large percentage are going to vote for themselves

We probably now need to streemline the operaiton with showing ID to vote.

The only fanatics in politics I've seen lately have been for the ALP. They got so frenzied over Rudd that they still seeth with baseless (and offensive) hatred for Howard and anything to do with the political right.

16k voters out of 13 million, 0.1% of voters or something. Most of which they say were probably administrative errors or new voters making mistakes. Basically a non-issue.

But yep I'd support compulsory ID for voting. Passport, Driver's License, or some other state ID, if that would help. But they said about half was just human error were people crossed off the wrong person because they had a similar name.

I do not think showing ID will help. If I wanted to vote several times I can turn up at every polling station and say I want to vote, here is my ID. The best way to avoid double voting is do what they do in the third world and put ink on a specific finger. Then the only need for voting rolls is to make sure everyone has voted and you are over 18.

I was amused to read that some people thought that 16,000 double votes wasn`t an issue. This percentage certainly isn`t anything to panic about, but it does show a glotch (I was going to edit "glotch" to "glitch", but I like "glotch" better) in the system. While we`re all assuming and surmising, I`m assuming the double dippers were greens voters because the "world owes then so much". Anyone who hasn`t seen the double standards used by the greens, is either deaf, blind and retarded, or in a coma.

Second thought, it was probably the feminazis who cast the multiple votes. After all, the world owes them so much, being victimised for millions of years by all those useless, sub human, male chauvinist pigs who don`t deserve to live, the sexist bastards!.

America has problems with election fraud as well. Power and wealth come from winning elections.

    Voting should be made non-compulsory.

Our system, for all it`s faults, is one of the best. The preferential system could do with some repair, but compulsory voting is the most sensible choice.
