This site was so much better before we had to worry about threads getting shut down. Get a better server if that is the problem.
Unless it is a particularly unusual topic that is of extreme to an individual, I do not think anyone actually reads all the posts in a thread with 50 pages. Very few people are willing to spend the time and effort to read it all. I usually read the first, second, and last page of very long threads- and that is only if the topic is especially interesting. You can make the argument that threads should not be closed, but I think there is not much point even replying to a topic that is more than 3 pages long, unless you really have something important to say. I don't like it because sometimes we will be having a good argument and then the thread gets shut down. I wasn't talking about sitting down and reading 50 pages at a time per-say.
We don't need a better server, we are already on one of the best ones. I don't know if this rule will be changed, or whether it will remain for the foreseeable future.
