Naw, he is just a Trump lackey. Pence is like a little puppy dog. It would be like punishing a German private for the invasion of Poland.

Fox News reports, "Senators Ted Cruz, R-Texas; Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska; and Susan Collins, R-Maine, are among a small group of Republicans who have yet to completely shut the door on new witnesses, wanting to hear arguments first. Democrats would need them and at least one more in order to be able to call witnesses, but Graham warned that if they get their wish, the GOP will look to call defense witnesses such as Hunter Biden."

“If we call one witness, we’re going to call all the witnesses,” Graham said."

Oh, please, Graham, have Republicans in the Senate call Hunter Biden, the whistle blower, and Adam Schiff as witnesses.

But, they won't do it. Those witnesses will make Trump look like an idiot. For example, Hunter Biden has done nothing wrong other than use poor judgment. We all have done that and that is not a crime.

Trump's defenders argue that Trump did nothing wrong. What Trump did was inappropriate, but what he did was not a crime, not an impeachable offense. That is wrong on several accounts.

It is a violation of federal law for a Presidential campaign to request a benefit from a foreign government. Trump wanted the Ukrainian government to investigate the 2016 Presidential election and his chief rival, Joe Biden.

Trump's chief of staff confirmed that the military aid approved by Congress was withheld as incentive. Bribery is one of the impeachable offenses in our Constitution, confirming abuse of power.

A President does not have to commit a crime to be impeached. Read the Constitution.

However, on the face of it, forced by Trump's guilt, his defenders are in an awkward position. They are compelled to say that it is okay for a President to invite foreign interference in our Presidential election for his political benefit and use bribery of a foreign leader as an incentive to get what he wants.

Proof of these undeniable arguments will be that his fans will not be able to challenge them, and, if one or two do respond to this report, their post(s) will be about me, not what was said.

But the Trump administration did commit a crime. The Government Accountability Office, said the White House’s Office of Management and Budget violated the law when it withheld nearly $400 million this past summer for “a policy reason,” even though the funds had been allocated by Congress.

Unfortunately, because they are covering for a guilty President, McConnell and the Republican majority may not allow that evidence.

According to a recent survey, 51% of Americans want Trump convicted and removed from office. That is the highest yet. 69% want witnesses called, including 48% of Republicans.

McConnell and Trump Republicans in the Senate should not lose sight of the fact that they do not have the final word on Trump's removal from office. The American people do.

Haven't Republicans lost enough elections because of Trump? 30 Republican lawmakers already have quit.

You don't have to believe me. How about accepting the word of one of Trump's lawyers?

In 1998 when he appeared on CNN’s “Larry King Live” Dershowitz said, "It certainly doesn't have to be a crime if you have somebody who completely corrupts the office of president and who abuses trust and who poses great danger to our liberty, you don't need a technical crime.”

No matter how you cut it, Trump is a loser. How can you tell? His fans are largely silent. They do not touch the evidence, do not use the arguments made by the White House, and the vast majority of his fans avoid the entire subject of Trump's impeachment although his trial has been dominating the news cycle for the past two weeks.

Hey, I know what that is. That is the mental problem Trump has. He shows the symptoms of the disorder nearly every day, mostly in his tweets.

McConnell showed us his rules today that he wants adopted for Trump's impeachment trial. Twelve hour days beginning at 1:00 P.M., ending in the middle of the night. He sure wants this trial over in a hurry.

The issue of witnesses is up in the air.

Near total silence from Trump's supporters. Their complete inability to defend their hero is obvious. They have given up.

"This is the fair road map for out trial," he says of the proposed rules resolution he will soon formally introduce, saying it will bring the "clarity and fairness that everyone deserves."

A rushed trial? McConnell's idea of fairness is far different from that of Americans' idea of fairness.

Trump's fans know that. Their silence is acquiescence.

McConnell isn't fooling anyone with the possible exception of Kentucky voters. They are easily fooled.

Un-freaking-believable! Trump's lawyers are lying to the Senate. The truth is known even to Joe Sixpack and Mary Wonderful. How can the chief justice of the supreme court allow these lies?

    Answer: The fix is in.

Falsehood No. 1: Trump’s lawyers claimed Republicans didn’t have access to key information during House impeachment inquiry
As part of an effort to portray the process that resulted in Trump’s impeachment and trial as a partisan witch hunt, Cipollone at one point complained that “not even [House Intelligence Committee chair and impeachment manager Adam] Schiff’s Republican colleagues were allowed into the SCIF,” or Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility, which is basically the secure facility that members of Congress used to review classified information pertinent to the impeachment inquiry.

This assertion is not true. As a number of reporters pointed out, not only did Republicans involved in the impeachment have access to the SCIF, but many of them also used it.

    And there is more

Cipollone wasn’t alone in getting basic stuff wrong. Sekulow’s opening statement, which served as an extended complaint about process, also managed to mangle the facts (he claimed House Democrats delayed transmitting the articles of impeachment to the Senate for a longer period of time than was actually the case) and mischaracterize the impeachment process (he said Trump “was denied the right to cross-examine witnesses” during the House inquiry when, in fact, the White House declined to do so).

    https://www.vox.com/2020/1/21/21075...s-jay-sekulow-pat-cipollone-opening-statement

Not to worry. The American people will have the last word on November 3.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stunned fellow senators and delayed the start of the proceedings with his decision to back off some of his proposed rules. He acted after protests from senators, including fellow Republicans, who were concerned about the optics of middle of the night sessions.

It was a dramatic setback for the Republican leader and the president's legal team, exposing a crack within the GOP ranks and the political unease over the historic impeachment proceedings unfolding amid a watchful public in an election year.

Instead of McConnell's original. rules, 24 hours of opening arguments for each side will be spread over three days, giving Democrats momentum as they push to break the standoff over calling new witnesses.

Without comment, the Republican leader submitted an amended proposal after meeting behind closed doors with his senators as the trial opened. The handwritten changes would add an extra day for each side's opening arguments and stipulate that evidence from the Democratic House's impeachment hearings be included in the record.

This is surreal. Have Trump Republicans lost their minds? Have they forgotten what it means to be an American?

For Trump??? What the hell is going on?

EXCLUSIVE: The attorneys general of 21 states have come forward with a blistering rebuke of the impeachment of President Trump, asserting that it "establishes a dangerous historical precedent."

The Republican attorneys general, in a letter submitted to the Senate Wednesday morning and obtained by Fox News, urged the chamber conducting Trump's trial to "reject" the impeachment articles.

"If not expressly repudiated by the Senate, the theories animating both Articles will set a precedent that is entirely contrary to the Framers' design and ruinous to the most important governmental structure protections contained in our Constitution: the separation of powers," they wrote.

    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ag...nging-letter-a-dangerous-historical-precedent

So, according to these A.G.'s it is okay for the President to invite foreign interference in our Presidential elections, and use bribery on a foreign leader to get what he wants. The bribery is in the form of military aid approved by Congress and signed by the President.

Of course, they don't say that. They are scared to death of stating the consequences of their position.

With the exception of Florida, all the A.G.'s are from deep red states dominated by rural counties inhabited by non-college educated farmers and ranchers. Because of apathy, we allowed these people to chose our President. Vladimir Putin is extremely pleased with the result as America is tearing itself apart over Trump's impeachment.

    Never again!

On May 10, 2017 and Dec. 10, 2019, Trump entertained Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the White House. Russia is at war with our ally, Ukraine, and has annexed a part of that country, Crimea.

Representatives of our ally, Ukraine, have never been invited to the Trump White House.

What does that tell you about Trump?
