Now the Libyan people wont be able to use "our resources" for their own purposes such as social and economic development.
I don't know about the US, but the UK wanted to kill Gaddafi and his family, it had nothing to do with oil. For the French and Italians it did, they got most of the oil contracts. The Conservatives are now in power, they don't forget the material used by the IRA in the Brighton bombing was supplied to them by Gaddafi, the British more than anyone else wanted him and his family dead. But it seems all the US politicians forgot about Lockerbie when they were trying to stop the US from taking part in the no fly zone.
The evidence shows that Gaddafi was not behind the Lockerbie bombing. It was retaliation from the Iranians for the US rocket attack on Iranian Air Flight 655 by the U.S.S. Vincennes.
Gadhafi had made peace with America by turning over his nuclear weapons program to Bush. The NATO war against Gadhafi tells foreign dictators that America doesn't negotiate in good faith, and that there can be no peace. In other words America has told these guys that they now have to fight to the death. The war in Libya was stupid and will come back to haunt this country.
You know the oil companies in Libya were TOTAL, ENI, Dutch Shell, Hess, Marathon, Occidental, BP and Exxon.. although I believe Exxon quit their offshore project a year earlier. There was also a Chinese company.. maybe Synopec. They are all back at work and production is about what it was before the Arab Spring in Libya .. about 1.3 million bpd.
Why shouldn't major powers be concerned about the most precious commodity on the planet and do what they must to secure their access to it? Bunch of crybabies. Wars over resources have gone on since the dawn of mankind. Hell, its why the Homosapiens wiped out the Neanderthal's.
Ok, well then the next time there's an oil war you should have no problem giving your life for the cause since you're not a crybaby.
