Trucker Convoy Laps DC On Beltway To Protest COVID Mandates

WASHINGTON, DC — A group of truck drivers and others protesting COVID-19 mandates drove twice around the Beltway on Sunday, driving slowly to affect traffic and make their stance known to politicians.

The group, calling itself the "People's Convoy," consisted of several semi-trucks along with a large group of other vehicles. It started in Hagerstown, Maryland, merged onto the beltway and drove two laps around Washington, DC before returning to Hagerstown.

The convoy comes after a widely publicized trucker convoy called the "Freedom Convoy" forced the closure of Ambassador Bridge between Canada and Detroit last month, grinding several auto factories in both the U.S. and Canada temporarily to a halt. The truckers were protesting COVID-19 vaccine mandates in Canada. The bridge was cleared, but similar convoy-style protests have started in the United States…

…Cars and trucks in the convoy honked at onlookers and supporters with signs stationed at overpasses along the drive to show their approval, according to CNN.

Brian Brase, an organizer of the convoy, has said the group plans to make the same loop every day until their demands are met, and a similar convoy on the roads on a weekday has the potential to be more disruptive, according to The Washington Post.

Brase told the Post the protestors will not enter the city but could increase the amount of loops they make around the beltway….

It has been great watching this group travel across the country. The sight of the supporters cheering them and waving flags on over passes and joining them for short distances has been heartwarming. I wish them the best of luck and success.

 

I hope they do lap the beltway every day several times a day at both rush hours until all federal covid emergency powers and mandates are lifted.

 

It is strange to see the same group saying that masks have closed their businesses then turn around and close auto plants by blocking intersections

What “demands” do they have exactly? The CDC has already completely relaxed recommendations in all but the hardest hit areas.

End all federal emergency powers and mandates of any kind regarding China virus. The federal emergency was to expire on March 1 and Biden extended it for no good reason. It was as if he wanted to provoke this confrontation.

 

Putin did do Biden a favor by taking our protest out of the top news. That’s no reason for us to bend the knee to our fascist dictator.

 

The federal emergency powers set to expire were just renewed by Brandon so that’s why it’s still on as long as it takes to back him down from that or see him resort to Trudeau II.

When he, without congress, decides to unconstitutionally take away people's jobs and ability to survive and care for their children with Vax mandates, I am not sure the distinction matters to them.

 

Your initial sentence is incorrect. They are not the same group that hurt car companies. That was a Canadian convoy blocking imports.

Your point of the timing being off is correct. Biden already lost to the Supreme Court with a lot of his unconstitutional mandates. States are already backing off due to the 2022 elections. It seems silly to protest something no there or going away... Unless truckers are still mandated to get vaccinated for a virus that democrats are pretending whent away...

 

Anyone who loses his job or ability to survive or ability to care for children because of a vax mandate has only himself to blame.

 

Shooting someone in the head unless you do what you tell them and then "saying it's your fault I had to do this, because you refused to do what I told you." is exactly what a dictator scum would do.

Biden is to blame for violating human rights and the constitution and his oath and then punishing everyday Americans for not following his dictates.
