Trump Allies Target Journalists Over Coverage Deemed Hostile to White House

Most of the people in these groups just like to rumble. Any excuse will do.

 

I wanted to be a journalist forty-plus years ago. I studied it in State College. It was just after Watergate and it sounded like an exciting career.

One of my professors showed me two things about the future of Journalism that changed my mind.

First, my professor wrote for the LA Times. He liked my writing and told me he would recommend me for an internship there. I was proud he thought that much of my work.

Two weeks later, he got the word--internships at the Times were "reserved" for Stanford students only--not for anyone in the state college system.

Fighting an old boy system was bad enough, but the second thing was a deal breaker.

It was a lecture he gave on the future of Journalism.

My professor said there were eight types of Journalism. After the first seven, he said the future would be in ADVOCACY JOURNALISM--journalists picking causes and steering everything they wrote to that end.

My professor was 100 percent right. He predicted FAKE NEWS.

I wanted nothing to do with a future like that.

The 'far right' is anyone who doesn't agree with Leftists To them there is no 'middle'. Just call someone 'far right' and you can remove whatever rights they may have had, such as a free press. You just made that point.

 

Although, to be fair, it's really an impression of leftist so called 'journalists', rather than Democrat politicians, although perhaps you meant strictly Democrat supporters, of whom some are leftist journalists.

People who might be planning or doing crimes should be investigated whether they are journalists or not., that's what the FBI is for. But what's being proposed here is to investigate reporters JUST for being critical of the President. That is Putinesque, and dictatorial, and should scare the bejesus out of anybody who values freedom in America. which Trumpers obviously don't

 

My intent was to reference Democrat supporters.

I can't find any reference to this but I remember that the Klan was at least SAID to be founded for sort of General silliness. That's supposedly why all the names for everything are mildly humorous. It's SUPPOSED to be like the Loyal Order of Moose or the Shriners, a matter of making gentle fun of themselves. OTOH the founder WAS a vicious racist who was known to execute black prisoners and he seemed to have no objection when the group transformed into the den of bigots it is today

Trumpers don't take libs seriously, but then Trumpers have discounted whatever disagrees with their prejudices and misperceptions for several years.

And then they believe everything Trump says implicity, that right there makes just about everyone, except other Trumpers, regard them as completely unreliable, if not a bit nerts.

All the Trumpers are becoming a huge circle jerk and echo chamber. Listening to and seeing nobody but others like themselves. No wonder their accusations are becoming increasingly strange and bizarre as they get more and more out of touch with reality.

Which fits into an over all pattern of calling all criticism as fake news.... which, coming from the president, effectively discourages and ultimately preevents them from doing their job

When you start banning reporters, it sends a message.... and was intended to send a message

But overall.... we were all having a discussion about whether trump wants to control the press... and whether he had taken actions to accomplish this.... i was asked to give examples... which i did

 

No, they can and are still doing their jobs. Trump has yet to move on to Step 2, Jailing reporters This is a centerpiece of how his mentor, Vladimir Putin,governs. That's a big step in the US but believe me he can and will do so
