Between him and prior governor Daniels they allowed Planned Parenthood to close 5 clinics in rural Indiana near Austin where the huge outbreak of HIV was located. Planned parenthood clinics had been the sole source of testing facilities in rural Indiana,so no one was being checked causing the infection to spread like wildfire. Rural Austin Indiana had more people with HIV than NYCity.

 

let's hope Trump handles this is well as Obama did Ebola...

 

Presidents don't usually "handle" this stuff anyway, it is the medical professionals who handle it. The people employed at the CDC or NIH or HHS do not sit on their hands behind a desk hoping and praying the president will tell them what to do

No he declared a state of emergency when 75 people got it from shooting up drugs....he put in place a needle exchange program that stopped the spread.

How were they supposed to prevent Planned Parenthood from closing clinics? Planned Parenthood is not part of state or federal government.

People have to go out of their way to become infected with HIV.

 

The pick was for the manager, the administrator, to coordinate all the departments and government and state and local efforts why does that requite a doctor who is trained to treat illiness not administrate government affairs? Have you seen the people and doctors they are bringing in?

 

Dude it is hard to contract Ebola. We had like 2 or 3 cases in the US. All people returning here from the affected region. Corona has afire higher infection rate but is vastly less lethal.

 

And Pence started the needle and syringe exchange program which is credited with stopping increase in infections. And any doctor or public health clinic can test for HIV Planned Parenthood is NOT the singular place to get an HIV test.

Unfortunately that part of Indiana lacks both doctors and any medical testing facilities. Iv'e never lived there, but that's what I glean from reading accounts 0f the crisis that occurred there.

Obama assigned Ron Klain as the Ebola outbreak "czar." He's the epitome of a bureaucrat and partisan political operative. Pence has executive experience as a former governor of a state. He's experienced in coordinating with medial professionals and government representatives from local, county, state and federal.

Mike Pence launched the Republican war on Planned Parenthood.

So, one thing Pence could have done to slow clinic closures would be to STOP THAT ASSAULT CRAP!!

 

The point would be that being successful controlling Ebola is not exactly an earth shattering accomplishment. By the way Pence's job is to coordinate an interagency task force sort jurisdictional disputes and the like. It is not to treat patients, or do research.

 

The question is will he listen to science.

So far, he shows no interest in that. And, that IS concerning, as what CDC and others have to say DOES include what is appropriate policy and what expenditure is required.

Is there ANYONE in the Trump administration (besides Trump) who would be less likely to listen to policy advice stemming from science?
