He called for $2k per individual, and he wants the pork removed. He listed a lot of it in his 4 minute speech.

If they have enough votes to override his veto, then he can just let it sit on his desk. How long until it automatically becomes law?

    EDIT:

If he vetoes it, they have to get 2/3rd in both chambers. We all know that.

If he refuses to sign it or veto it, and they go on recess, it dies on his desk.

If they remain in session and he does nothing with it, it automatically becomes law.

Congress has to fix it or stay in session through the holidays.

The Constitution grants the president 10 days to review a measure passed by the Congress. If the president has not signed the bill after 10 days, it becomes law without his signature. However, if Congress adjourns during the 10-day period, the bill does not become law

I actually applaud Trump for this. $600 isn't enough.

Next Congress starts January 3. Their clock on being able to stay in session for the 10 days is running out.

Which means Congress either stays and fixes it or it dies. Or, can they stay in session and still go home?

I don't need the money, but if there is going to be a 'stimulus', $600 is a joke, even for people living outside the cities.

What good is $600, really? Half a rent payment if you're lucky. A car payment, an insurance payment, and an internet bill.

He should wait till the last possible second to veto it just to keep Congress in session as a sort of punishment for this obscene waste of our money. We don't need to be giving countless billions to other nations to spend on pointless non-COVID related lobbyists projects.

    VETO!

Strip away all the lobbyists driven pork and aid to other nations and we'll get on track to bringing things back around. Because we blew up the debt for sure thanks to COVID but if ever there were a need to blow through cash its now and it must be used to benefit AMERICANS.

He's right that $600 ($1200 for a couple) is ridiculously low.

I have this vision in my head of Congress throwing this pocket change at the public and then congratulating themselves for it and expecting to be praised by the public. Roughly half of Congress are millionaires, and some of them are fabulously wealthy, like Nancy Pelosi, as an example. It shows a stunning disconnect between them and the people they represent. Stunning, but not surprising, really. It reminds me of Marie Antoinette's famous line, "Let them eat cake."

And to add insult to injury, some people such as myself have been fortunate enough to not need the money. Some of us have been able to keep working through this effing plague. And every $600 that's sent to people like me is wasted. I don't need it. So for every $1200 they send to people like my wife and I, they could be doubling the amount they're sending to an out-of-work restauranteur or employee, or any of the out-of-work employees of businesses that have been hit hard by this friggin plague.

And for just one year, foreign aid should come to a full stop. I don't care if it's only 1% of the total budget. Full stop.

Same with other non-essential spending. Full stop.

Effing politicians just don't get it. And they treat us like children, like fools, like pawns in a game.

    Pelosi's reply to Trump tweet:
Republicans repeatedly refused to say what amount the President wanted for direct checks. At last, the President has agreed to $2,000 — Democrats are ready to bring this to the Floor this week by unanimous consent. Let’s do it!

Trump is playing both the Democrats and the Republicans here.

He knows the Republicans would have a hard time agreeing to $2,000-per-person checks. And even if they could, you can bet they'd take out the additional money awarded per child to help even it out.

I have to assume the pork reference has to do with Democrats, although I'm willing to bet there's Republican pork in there too.

Essentially he wants both parties to agree to stuff they probably won't agree to, because they have already disagreed on it for months.

He wants them to fail. The Democrats because he hates them(as they hate him) and the Republicans because he's mad at them for not supporting his fraud nonsense. He's also annoyed with both of them over the NDAA bill.

This is Trump getting in a dig. Granted, $2,000 checks would be a big help to a lot of people, but Trump doesn't care about those people and they are not why he's doing this even if they would ultimately benefit. This is another manifestation of his continued refusal to publicly accept the election loss.

It is undeniable though that Trump winning in this instance and getting what he's asked for would be a boon for people all across the country. It's probably the type of relief most needed.

Oh wow, you are a socialst marxist as well. Free money, more money, to everyone.

The relief package, unveiled Monday afternoon, sped through the House and Senate in a matter of hours. The Senate cleared the massive package by a 91-7 vote after the House approved the COVID-19 package by another lopsided vote, 359-53.

    The vote was veto proof.

And that's why we love Trump.

$900B / 330M Americans is $2,727 per, but, we only get $600. Trump's right, now it's time for Congress to IMMEDIATELY get it right. Pelosi had drug this out for 6 months in a dreadful political calculation.

SHE’S LOSING IT: Nancy Pelosi Goes on CNN and Has a Meltdown Too Amazing to Miss.

Ice Cream Nancy wants to move on from having her purely political motives for holding up a stimulus bill before the election scrutinized. Judging by the election returns, the voters held her accountable by nearly wiping out her majority in the House.

Now some members of the corporate media are also trying to hold her accountable. This could be a sign the media has decided she needs to go. This would look similar to the trashing of Sen. Dianne Feinstein. She made the critical mistake of being civil to Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham during the confirmation of Justice Amy Coney Barrett. On cue, leaks from those close to Feinstein, promptly painted the picture of a woman in significant cognitive decline.

Now we have CNN host Wolf Blitzer taking Pelosi to task for dragging her feet on pandemic relief when so many Americans were suffering. This is not the first time she has been forced to address this, and she actually admitted during a recent press conference that her willingness to negotiate now was linked to having a new president. However, this appearance was even more astonishing.

Blitzer asks Pelosi about the content of the stimulus bill that has worked its way through Congress. The current bill provides significantly less relief than President Trump had on the table before the election. For example, the version that has passed provides Americans making less than $75,000 a year with a $600 payment. The previous version provided $1200. It seems like a reasonable question since Pelosi has admitted to holding up the previous bill.

Pelosi responds by commanding Blitzer respect her committee chairs’ knowledge. She accused Blitzer of defending the Trump administration throughout the process. Rediculous. She closed her initial comments by essentially calling Blitzer too stupid to understand the differences between the two bills.

Then it got weird when Blitzer attempted to close the interview:

Blitzer: Madam Speaker these are incredibly difficult times right now. And we’ll leave it on that note. Thank you so much….

Pelosi: No. No, we’ll leave it on the note you are not right on this Wolf. I hate to say that to you. But I feel confident about it and I feel confident about my colleagues. And I feel confident in my Chairs.

Blitzer: It’s not about me, it’s about millions of Americans who can’t put food on the table, who can’t pay the rent and are having trouble…

Pelosi: And we represent them. (Blitzer attempts to respond and Pelosi gets repetitive) And we represent them. And we represent them. And we represent them. We know them. We represent them and we know them. We know them. We represent them, yes.

Blitzer: Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good as they say here in Washington

    Pelosi: It’s nowhere near perfect.

    Blitzer: Madam Speaker

Pelosi: Always the case but we’re not even close to the good.

Blitzer: All right. Let’s see what happens because every day is critically, critically important. Thanks so much for joining us.

Pelosi: Thank you for your sensitivity to our constituents’ needs.

Blitzer: I am sensitive to them because I see them on the street begging for food. Begging for money. Madam Speaker, thank you so much….

Pelosi: Have you fed them? We feed them. We feed them.

Blitzer: We’ll continue this conversation down the road for sure. We’ll take a quick break and we’ll be right back.

Did you hear that? Nancy Pelosi and her colleagues in Congress feed the hungry. Maybe she shares some of her boutique chocolate ice cream with the homeless guy who sleeps outside her gate in Napa. Perhaps her staff will be the next one claiming their boss is in cognitive decline. In any case, this was not a good look.

Throughout the entire exchange Blitzer’s face is priceless.

President Donald Trump, in a stunning Tuesday night tweet, called the $900 billion Covid relief bill passed by Congress an unsuitable "disgrace" and urged lawmakers to make a number of changes to the measure, including bigger direct payments to individuals and families.

How else is one to take you pushing for trump to want more money than what was passed?
