The end results of negotiations must be denuclearization of the Korea Peninsula. If not, we will disarm them and they know Trump means business. You just don't seem to understand that a "rosy picture" must be painted to this communist dictator to even begin to get him to cooperate. That picture painted in contrast to death at the hands of a coup or a bunker buster is a choice hard to refuse.....but of course I realize, you have inside information none of us "non-elites" are privy to.

Those agreements you mention were put together with "globalization in mind",,,,,that is to diminish America in order to create a more level playing field with lessor nations. You are in denial to the fact Trump won and his backers, like myself, believe that the ideals that made this country once great are the road to freedom and prosperity for all those that embrace them. We are going to make America great once again no matter how you despise it!

Trump begged Kim to attend the summit with him, promising him protection and riches.

"This with Kim Jong Un would be something where he would be there. He would be running his country. His country would be very rich."

"We will guarantee his safety," he said of Kim. "He will be safe, he will be happy, his country will be rich, his country will be hardworking and very prosperous."

To test Trump's resolve in this matter, Kim sent his top assassin, Kim Young Chol, to deliver a letter from him. Kim did not send his top diplomat or foreign minister. Trump responded with a lavish ninety minute display on Friday when the assassin delivered the letter to Trump in the White House. Trump had to waive the U.S. sanctions against the thug so he could come to Washington.

Trump has not changed his mind again. The June 12 summit is still on, but Trump has significantly lowered the expectations. “It’s a getting-to-know-you meeting." "I think it’ll be a process..." "We’re not going to go in and sign something on June 12."

In other words, Trump is going half way around the world to meet with a communist dictator for a photo op.

I am still holding out hope that Trump will be persuaded by cooler heads to put an end to this madness. Three months of televised melodrama for a photo freaking op! Has White House lost its mind?

I find it difficult to believe that Generals Kelly and Mattis are going along with this. They have been largely silent, but Mattis put things into perspective yesterday.

"We can anticipate, at best, a bumpy road to the negotiation," said Mattis, who was speaking alongside South Korean and Japanese defense ministers. We must maintain a strong collaborative defensive stance so we enable our diplomats to negotiate from a strong position of strength in this critical time. We must remain vigilant, and we will continue to implement all UN security council resolutions on North Korea. North Korea will receive relief only when it demonstrates verifiable and irreversible steps to denuclearization," Mattis said.

Now that's putting things into perspective, and the Marine general clearly told us where he stood. But then, Marine generals are always clear.

It is unclear if SecState Pompeo is fully aboard the runaway Trump train. Prior to becoming Trump's secretary of state, Pompeo was quite hawkish when it came to North Korea.

Trump “has made very clear that the United States finds it unacceptable for a rogue leader like Kim Jong Un to have the capacity of a ballistic missile with a warhead that is integrated and fully deliverable to the United States and hold America and the world at risk. He finds that unacceptable, and he is simply not going to permit it to happen.” Pompeo on Aug. 13, 2017.

Away from the cameras, is Pompeo telling Trump to forget the photo op? He was with Trump throughout the ninety minute dog and pony show Friday with the North Korean assassin, but he was totally silent in front of the cameras. Was the narcissistic Trump unwilling to share the spotlight with Pompeo or was Trump unwilling to allow Pompeo to speak his mind?

In fact, with the exception of the obsequious press secretary, Sarah Sanders, Trump is not allowing anyone to talk about the photo op on June 12. Only he can do that. What is he afraid of?

Is that how you rationalize it? Trolling? Because if you think his tweet is directed towards "them lefties" you are mistaken. It's directed at the fawning sheep who support him unconditionally. He's preparing you for the potential eventuality Mueller's report merits impeachment. He's setting up a pretext to either pardon himself, ignore a subpoena, or claim no matter what finding Mueller reports to the public doesn't matter because the investigation is either corrupt or unconstitutional.

Many in Trump's base have a severe reading comprehension problem, and they defend Trump using their own ignorance.

I dearly hope Trump tries to use the powers he claims he has.

Speaking of someone being in over his head, the summit with Kim is just around the corner. However, there has been a new development. It probably has nothing to do with the summit.

SEOUL/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - North Korea’s top three military officials have been removed from their posts, a senior U.S. official said, a move analysts said on Monday could support efforts by the North’s young leader to jump-start economic development and engage with the world.

Reuters continues, "Kim’s motivation remains unclear but analysts said the shake-up allows him and the ruling party to tighten control over the Korean People’s Army (KPA) at a critical time of international engagement and domestic development."

It is time to review why, all of a sudden, Kim is being so cooperative, if he is being cooperative. What has changed? Of course, Fox News, euphemistically called the Trump Network, attributes it all to Trump and his bad cop/good cop routine and the sanctions he has placed on North Korea.

That is false, and, as far as sanctions go, North Korea's benefactor, China, will ensure North Korea is not hurt too much. In addition Kim has been getting cozy with Russia lately. It is not the sanctions.

Also false, is giving credit to Trump. What has changed is the progress North Korea has made in the past two years.

Sept. 3, 2017, North Korea claims it has again tested a hydrogen bomb underground.

That's right, a hydrogen bomb! And North Korea has successfully launched an ICBM capable of hitting the U.S. "A little over two-and-a-half hours ago, North Korea launched an intercontinental ballistic missile. It went higher, frankly, than any previous shot they've taken," SecDef Mattis has said.

In addition to all that, North Korea has successfully miniaturized the hydrogen bomb to fit on the tip of an ICBM.

So, that is what has changed. North Korea has in the past two years joined the nuclear club. Kim regards his nuclear arsenal and missiles as essential to his regime's survival and he has what he needs. No more testing required. Besides, testing nukes and ICBM's is expensive. The nuclear site he dismantled was a clever ruse and it worked. Its destruction became a useful tool in persuading the American President to sit down and talk, one nuclear power to another, a goal of the Kim regime for 65 years. The same is true of the prisoners he returned.

Now that is all done, he needs to concentrate on improving the North Korean economy. No doubt the highly successful South Korean economy can assist in that effort.

In the meantime his status will go through the roof when he sits down and has a chat with the leader of the free world. Hey, maybe even he can help, too, he being such a great deal-maker and all.

I sincerely hope Trump is prepared for his photo op. In Kim, Trump will meet his match on the world's stage. Blustering, threatening, bluffing, and lying will not work there.

Trump fans have left the thread. Too bad. It is just getting interesting. The summit is in a week, providing Trump doesn't change his mind again. That is always a possibility. He is going half way around the world to meet a communist dictator for a photo op.

I guess his fans got tired of making fools of themselves.

The last person Trump fans want to talk about is Trump.

Yeah, right. Now tell me all the great deals Trump has made.

Before you get started, he has made one in the sixteen months he has been in office -- with South Korea. That's a bit like a parent making a deal with their child.

He made a great deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately, the Eagles stood him up. That's your boy. :roflol:

    You replied:

Just as I thought. There are no conditions for Trump's photo op in Singapore.

Trump is the one who has made the concessions. First, he begged Kim to come to the summit.

"This with Kim Jong Un would be something where he would be there. He would be running his country. His country would be very rich."

"We will guarantee his safety," he said of Kim. "He will be safe, he will be happy, his country will be rich, his country will be hardworking and very prosperous."

Then, last Friday he entertained Kim's top assassin at the White House. Trump had to waive the U.S. sanctions against the man so the thug could make it to Washington. It was a truly embarrassing display for any American.

That is why Trump did it. Putin is quite pleased with Trump's performance on Friday.

Yes, I know you agree with Trump. You want the U.S. to become isolated. It is why he attacks our friends, Canada, Mexico, and the EU. In your book, we don't have any friends. All other nations just want to take advantage of us.

Putin thinks Trump is right, too.
