Trump says it is a one shot deal. “He can take that nation, with those great people, and truly make it great,” said Mr. Trump. “So it’s a one-time shot and I think it is going to work out very well.”

He also said, “I think I’m very well prepared. I don’t think I have to prepare very much."

Then he said, “I always believe in preparation, but I've been preparing all my life.”

As President he makes a great stand-up comic.

Fighter aircraft: 368 vs 349. We have a lot more total aircraft, but not fighter aircraft.
Total Navy: 436 vs 525

We are close enough that given the right circumstances, they would win. That is not a happy situation by any means. Then considering that they would likely get help from China, we are completely outclassed.

We don't always get to choose where we fight a war. If we get in a fight with NK short of a nuclear war, it will be a land war in Korea.

Before he left for the G-7 summit Trump criticized them for booting Russia out because of her aggression in Ukraine and illegal annexation of Crimea. He then arrived late and left early, three days before the summit in Singapore. Of course, he planned it that way. That is why he chose the June 12 date for the Singapore summit.

Put a different way, because of his ludicrous, self-defeating tariffs he imposed on our friends and allies, Trump hurriedly left the meeting with the leaders of the free world so he could rush to meet a communist dictator guilty of killing his uncle and brother and imprisoning hundreds of thousands of dissidents.

Fox News and Trump pundits keep saying that Trump's meeting with the North Korean dictator is historical. It has never happened before. That much is true. There is a very good reason why all other Presidents have refused to meet with the Korean dictator until he agrees to complete, verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

“I’d like to accomplish more than that [a photo op],” Trump said. But if not, “at least we’ll have met each other, we’ll have seen each other; hopefully, we’ll have liked each other. We’ll start that process. . . . But I think it will take a little bit of time.”

Good Lord. This is our President speaking!

Putin wouldn't have it any other way.

 

When it comes to the Singapore summit, there are some rather disturbing facts.

Trump himself has lowered the expectations of this summit to a photo op. He has said it is a "getting to know you" meeting and he does not expect to sign anything.

This summit is based on the wishes of the North Korean dictator. Kim invited Trump. Why? Because a one-on-one meeting with the American President has been the goal of the Kim regime for 65 years. Such a meeting increases Kim's stature and that of the military prowess of North Korea. It will be a summit of one nuclear power to another, and a great diplomatic victory for Kim.

Kim has what he needs in terms of his nuclear capability. He has the hydrogen bomb, the ability to miniaturize it, and an ICBM to deliver it. Tests are costly for North Korea. Kim sees no further need for testing.

While sanctions have hurt North Korea, her benefactor, China, can help in that regard. So can Russia.

Russia and China are allies of North Korea. The U.S. is not. The U.S. is the enemy.

It is in Russia and China's interests for North Korea to remain a thorn in America's side.

Prior to meeting with Trump, Kim has held high level meetings with both Russia and China. This could be extremely important as Trump heads to Singapore.

Lastly, Kim will be extremely prepared for this meeting. The worst mistake the President can make is to believe his own propaganda and underestimate Kim. "I think I'm very well prepared. I don’t think I have to prepare very much," Trump told reporters at the White House Thursday as he posed for photos with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. "This isn’t a question of preparation. It's a question of whether or not people want it to happen, and we'll know that very quickly."

 

Of course if Trump snubbed Kim and just ignored him as Obama did, you would have bad things to say about him. If Trump went after North Korea to disarm them by force, you woould say he is a war monger. There is absolutely a no win with you and others infected with TDS so why would any American listen to what you have to say?

 

If the U.S. went to war with N. Korea and wiped Kim off the face of the earth, we would have control of that region. China does not want that. They know Trump is going to demand results one way or the other. This is not an appeasement President.

 

Under the guise that Canada, Mexico, and the EU pose a national security risk, Trump imposed a 25% tariff on steel and a 10% tariff on aluminum.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said it was insulting that the U.S. implemented steel and aluminum tariffs against Canada on the basis of national security. He pledged to impose retaliatory tariffs against the U.S., adding "I have made it very clear to the President that it is not something we relish doing, but it is something that we absolutely will do," Trudeau said. "Canadians, we're polite, we're reasonable, but we also will not be pushed around."

Trump's top trade adviser, Peter Navarro, laid into Trudeau on "Fox News Sunday" for daring to implement retaliatory tariffs on the U.S.

"There's a special place in hell for any foreign leader that engages in bad faith diplomacy with President Donald J. Trump and then tries to stab him in the back on the way out the door," Navarro said.

"That was one of the worst political miscalculations of a Canadian leader in modern Canadian history," he added.

Trump's chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow on Sunday accused Trudeau of undermining the US and its allies with comments he made at the G7 summit.

"It was a betrayal," Kudlow said on CNN's "State of the Union."

"He really kind of stabbed us in the back," Kudlow said, referring to the fact that Trudeau made his comments after Trump had left. Kudlow failed to mention that Trump arrived late for the summit, arrived late for meetings, then left early, not wanting to face the anger of the G-7 leaders minus one (Trump). His excuse was the summit in Singapore for which he had conveniently chosen the June 12 date. Trump arrived in Singapore three days early. Kudlow's logic is flawed. Trump left early. It is quite common for Trump and his advisors and press secretaries to blame others for Trump's mistakes.

Kudlow's memory is also flawed. Kudlow said the US had spent the summit negotiating in "good faith" with Trudeau and the other assembled leaders, and that the US had planned to sign the communique until Trudeau's news conference, which Kudlow called a "sophomoric play." Kudlow seems to have forgotten that Trump started the trade war. "Good faith" negotiations do not involve pointing a gun to the head of the other participants.

We have no idea what Trump intended to do. We do know that he ordered the U.S. representatives not to sign the joint communique, essentially making it a G-6 conference with the U.S. on the outside looking in, increasing the yawning chasm between our President and the other leaders of the free world.

Both Kudlow and Navarro made a point of stating they were speaking for the President.

One other factor was made clear by Trump's advisors. As he prepares to sit down with a communist dictator who has threatened the U.S., killed his uncle and brother, and has imprisoned hundreds of thousands of dissidents -- a man Trump described as "very open and I think very honorable" -- the Trump administration states "there's a special place in hell" for the leader of Canada.

Putin is pleased.

Of course, our President should snub Kim until there is something to talk about. Heads of state meet when the hard work has been done by diplomats then they jump in and claim all the credit. What will this summit be like? Trump told us.

In line with his treatment toward Canada and the other members of the G-7, at the summit in Singapore Trump threw another U.S. ally under the bus. This time it was South Korea. Trump surprised the South Korean leadership when he announced plans to suspend military exercises on the Korean Peninsula.

The North Korean military has labeled the war games as provocative. “You know, I wanted to stop the war games, I thought they were very provocative,” Trump told George Stephanopoulos.

SecDef James Mattis claims he was not taken by surprise by Trump's decision. However, the New York Times reports, "President Trump’s pledge on Tuesday to cancel military exercises on the Korean Peninsula surprised not only allies in South Korea but also the Pentagon.

"Hours after Mr. Trump’s announcement in Singapore, American troops in Seoul said they are still moving ahead with a military exercise this fall — Ulchi Freedom Guardian — until they receive guidance otherwise from the chain of command.

"Lt. Col. Jennifer Lovett, a United States military spokeswoman in South Korea, said in an email that the American command there “has received no updated guidance on execution or cessation of training exercises — to include this fall’s schedule Ulchi Freedom Guardian.'"

Putin and President Xi of China are enormously pleased that Trump canceled these military exercises in the their neck of the woods.

Obviously, Kim is enormously pleased as well because he gave up nothing for this largesse.

Trump's base is also pleased with Trump's performance at Singapore.
