What policy is the President using tin”close schools”? Is there a bill or executive order somewhere.

Today? Neither is liked nor wanted. Reminds me of 2016 when 54% of all independents disliked both Trump and Clinton, they didn’t want neither one to become the next president.

Today, 28% of independents has a favorable view of Harris, 61% unfavorable. Question 88B. Trump, is a bit better, 37% favorable, 57% unfavorable, question 88G

Now with 3 years to go prior to the 2024 presidential election, these numbers don’t have any bearing on that. Too far away. But if the election were held today? In 2016 12% of independents voted third party, against both Trump and Clinton. I would guess that percentage would be up past 20% if it were Harris vs. Trump today. Trump won independents in 2016 46-42 over Hillary. History has shown folks usually won’t vote for someone they dislike. 2020 is a prime example of that. But what if you dislike both as in 2016 and as in what would be today in a Harris vs. Trump matchup. Trump, maybe by a couple of points would be my SWAG. 40-38 or somewhere around those numbers. No slam dunk for sure. With the margin of error in these polls of plus or minus 3 points, the dislike of both is even.

In CNN’s 2016 exit polls, the question was asked of those who voted third party, if there were no third-party candidate who you would have voted for only between Trump and Clinton. 19% said Trump, 16% said Clinton, a whopping 65% said they’d stay home and not have voted. That shows you the desire in 2016 for a lot of independents to go to the polls to vote against both. I’d expect roughly the same for a matchup of Harris vs. Trump.

I would be surprised if you thought that it was totally impossible for Trump to win again. Some on your side might say that your are being naive and that you should be very wary of the Trump threat.

Why should anyone be "wary of the Trump threat"??? Why should a potential candidate for POTUS be a "threat"???

The divisiveness between the "sides" is so much more pronounced now since trump became a factor in the equation. It is also as if the GOP ( original version ) is receding into the background.

What has happened to "WE the People"..???? Perhaps that was a myth.

That is right..........and that is the Democratic system. Interesting that you feel that Trump would be a "threat." or that one should be "wary" of him.

You might just have a point.....

Who said it was the current President who was trying to close schools? Schools are a state and local issue. None the less, we oppose their closure.
