fellow conservatives, please rethink your position if you support Trump. To claim you will encourage an enemy to “do whatever they want” to an ally should not be tolerated. If we go down that road how will the next world war look when we have no allies. This man is no conservative.

Not protecting an ally who is in breech of a contract is one thing. If they don’t uphold their end we don’t have to uphold ours. That’s arguable… however to encourage enemy intervention with allies is not even on the same ball park. Please rethink your position if you are a Trump supporter. Not only for this but for many other reasons as well.

It was a huge rally covered by the British media. What Trump said does not matter because NATO countries will never be attacked by Russia. These countries Russia invaded in the last few decades are former Warsaw Pact states adjacent to Russia such as Georgia and Chechnya. Trump added that because of what Trump said to a NATO member state, the money came flowing in and hundreds of billions of dollars came into NATO (39:00-40:00).

NATO countries commit toi spend at least 2% of their GDP on defense. This is a requirement for membership in the alliance. Trump found most nations weren't doing this and he convinced them to do so. What's wring with that? If you don't do what you must to be a member of NATO, why should you get the benefits of membership.? What Trump said was absolutely correct. If you don't pay your dues, why should you be get the benefits of membership? Most nations are paid up now due to Trump's efforts. GOOD FOR TRUMP!

The only thing more depressing than Trump trying to break up NATO & inviting enemies to attack US allies is the certainty (already on display on this thread) that Trump supporters will either excuse or outright agree with him.

There is no bottom to hit here here.

Too late for that. Trump OWNS the American right. The time to stop him was 2016. Anyone who didn't try at every opportunity is complicit. It was clear then that he was dangerous, but too many people decided to ignore that. There is only one way to stop him now & you know what it is. Haley can't get it done. The courts are unlikely to. That leaves one way - vote for whoever the Dems put up at the election. Anything less is just ineffectual noise.

I agree. I seriously doubt that he was serious, but the fact that there was even a slight chance that he could be got them off their asses.

Don't ask me to agree with anything else about Trump...

So what? Pay your bills and you don't have to worry about it.

This is like people getting pissed off at the repo Man for repossessing a car that some scumbag stops paying the note on.

If you want the benefits of being a NATO member then you also have to step up to your obligations of being a NATO member.

We have enough welfare leeches in our own Nation to take care of without taking care of welfare recipients around the world

Insane comment from Trump, encouraging Russia to attack Europe. (Which has already happened with Ukraine invasion.)

I would, however, say that Europe needs to do MUCH MORE when it comes to aiding Ukraine. We can't rely on the US solely paying the bill for this conflict.
Ukraine is part of Europe, it's our job to keep it that way. Whatever the cost.

Because if Ukraine falls, so does Europe.

    And Trump doesn't give a sh*t.

Cutting benefits is one thing but telling an enemy country to do what they want is a whole other thing. This is overboard.

It’s not nothing like your analogy. It’s one thing to possibly boot them or to take away membership but to encourage an enemy to attack them is absolutely insanity. If we treat our allies like this it truly makes me wonder how many we can rely on to help in a WWIII scenario

Let me try to brake down WHAT Trump's words actually mean. A hypothetical sequence of events, if you will.

Trump says he'll let Russia do whatever it wants to Europe, attacking-wise, and he won't come to the rescue. (Something to do with outstanding NATO bills, Trump says, but that's just a lame excuse.)

Europe will respond to a Russian attack with all the force it can muster. (And yes, that could well mean nuclear.)

And any nuclear conflict between Europe and Russia will quickly escalate to a nuclear conflict between Europe, Russia and the United States. Thus WW3.

The only people who can stop such a scenario from ever happening are those going out to vote on November 5th 2024. Meaning, the American people who most likely don't want to risk a nuclear war in their back-yard.

So the smartest way to counter Trump's words is to INVOLVE them in any response. Make the American people think about what Trump proposes, when inviting (nuclear) war between Europe and Russia.

    So, think...

Who needs enemies when you have "allies" like Trump.

His America is a better ally to Russia and China than anyone else

Trump says he’d let Russia do ‘whatever the hell they want’ to NATO countries that don’t pay enough
    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/po...ant-nato-countries-dont-pay-enough-rcna138256
The former president's remarks at a rally in South Carolina drew criticism from the head of the transatlantic alliance, who said they could put the lives of American and European soldiers at risk.

Former President Donald Trump said Saturday he would encourage Russia to “do whatever the hell they want” if it attacked a NATO country that didn’t pay enough for defense.

His comments drew fierce backlash from some Republicans, the White House and leading Western officials, with the head of the transatlantic alliance suggesting they could put the lives of American and European soldiers at greater risk.

The comments will do little to ease concerns in Europe about U.S. dependability, with military aid that Ukraine desperately needs held up in Congress and the front-runner for the GOP nomination now reiterating his long-standing skepticism of America’s historical commitments to its allies.

So much for those who said Putin would never have invaded Ukraine on Trump's watch!

Threatening to betray your allies is pretty much the opposite of great. Its shameful

Indeed. World peace hangs in the balance.

Do a google search and you'll find many who believe Putin would not have invaded during Trump's presidency. Of course his following are just repeating what he, himself, said.

Former President Donald Trump addressed a raucous crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday night — and reiterated claims that Russian President Vladimir Putin would never have invaded Ukraine had he won the 2020 presidential election.

They pledged to do so in 2014, but now they don't know if US would honor the treaty or not because it's clear Trump will use some excuse to dishonor it

Why should United States troops die to protect the countries that won't attempt to protect themselves?
