Trump Taps Conservative Giants to Lead 1776 Commission

On Friday, President Donald Trump nominated 18 conservative leaders to serve on the “1776 Commission” to promote American patriotism in education, countering the Marxist critical race theory promoted in The New York Times‘ “1619 Project.” Among others, Trump named: Hillsdale College President Larry P. Arnn; Alliance Defending Freedom CEO Michael Farris; Claremont Review of Books Editor Charles R. Kesler; classicist author and professor Victor Davis Hanson; and former Vanderbilt Professor Carol Swain.

“Our mission is to defend the legacy of America’s founding, the virtue of America’s heroes, and the nobility of the American character. We must clear away the twisted web of lies in our schools and classrooms, and teach our children the magnificent truth about our country,” Trump declared when announcing the 1776 Commission in September.

The president signed the executive order creating the commission on September 17, Constitution Day.

It’s time to defend the truth of our history, culture, and traditions as an exceptional nation founded on July 4, 1776. The lies of the 1619 project are designed to disregard and disrespect our founding and those who are our founding fathers. We must protect our past and not forget who and what we are.

He’s done nothing at all to be a dictator. He’s governed using federalism and deferring to the states on major issues. Democrats have projected all these things upon Trump that they will themselves do if given the power to do so.

This is rich. So the Trump supporters are applauding the federal government spending tax dollars to tell states what they can teach and how to counteract a privately funded project. I guess the marxists have already won, when you get republicans cheering this initiative.

 

In the articles I've read about the use of the 1619 Project in schools don't say that teachers are 'changing history' - they are simply providing information that has not been taught before. The slave trade IS the history of this country.

 

"One Nation" is an essential part of our Constitution.

"Under God" is entirely optional.

 

Well, you know that the Trumpsters know that the end is in sight when they have to promote their victimhood by promoting one of Trump’s gimmicks from two months ago.

I doubt that this “1776 Commission” has ever met, Will ever meet,or has any real resonsibility.

Getting a mention on talk radio, or Tucker or shared on parler was the primary mission of the “1776 Commission”.

81 million Americans decided to put an end to this nightmare before Trump weakened the institutions irretrievably.

No it’s not. It is a portion of some of our pre independence history and early national history.

 

The marxist left wants to destroy the idea of America as a country where people can be free. Yes, slavery was terrible, but 600k Americans died to free the slaves, not to mention we have laws that prevent discrimination. Are we perfect? Of course not. But, we are the greatest country ever, simply based on our values enshrined in our Bill of Rights.

That said, I am not in favor of expanded government powers, including telling schools how or what to teach. But, if we don't do something, eventually the marxists will succeed and we will have no foundation left.

 

It will of course be at the top of the list of things that Communist China bought and paid for Joe Biden -- AKA the Big Guy -- strikes down after being crowned Leftist King of the World. Next will be forcing federal agencies to embrace Critical Race theory again.
