    http://money.cnn.com/2017/06/05/news/trump-privatize-air-traffic-control/

One of the great successes on 9/11 was how the skies were cleared by the air traffic controllers quickly and safely.
So, using Trump-think - Let's Screw it up.

The GOP mantra - government can do nothing right - which they have been demonstrating for the past 100_ days in which they have complete control.

Wonder which Trump crony will get the plush contract? My bet - Prince - the Blackwater founder and brother of bimbo DeVoss.

Modernize air traffic control - do not privatize it.

I really don't see that it should matter one way or the other as long as the system used in airport A is compatible with handing the traffic all the way down the line to the destination airport.

As for 9/11, Thank God Canada parked US bound aircraft standing room only.

I don't think air traffic control is a good candidate for cost -cutting - which is always the by-word of private companies.

From what I have read, the system is in pretty poor shape and the workers are burnt out from having to endure long shifts. Maybe privatizing it will help some. The FAA will still be there and they have been proactive in developing secondary systems like TCAS to avoid mid-air collisions when ATC drops the ball.

The way the airlines are treating it's customers I don't care if they all go out of business. I'll drive like I normally do.

Yes, because the country doesn't depend on air travel for commerce. Everyone flies for fun.

Business meeting in NY? No problem. I'll be there after driving for four days,

Its been that way for over 30 years. I knew some air traffic controllers. One was a woman in her late 20's. She had a head full of gray hair already. I don't know what the solution is. Pass the cost on to the airlines where it belongs? Thus making air fare more expensive? I have no idea, too damn many people are flying considering the current fleet of airlines in place. Increased prices will cut out a lot of travel, which will put a few airlines out of business. Why is the government in the business of air travel? Private outer space exploration has already been handed the keys. It's pretty complicated. I sure don't know the answer.

The National Air Traffic Controllers Assn., the union that represents the FAA's 14,000 controllers, is also backing privatization.

Union officials have complained that the FAA has been unable to resolve chronic controller understaffing at some of the nation's busiest facilities, and they say they've become discouraged by the modernization effort's slow progress.

There are about 50,000 commercial airline and other aircraft flights a day in the United States. Both sides of the privatization debate say the system is one of the most complex and safest in the world. The FAA would continue to provide safety oversight of the system under a congressional privatization plan.

Libs, the sky's not falling and neither will planes by privatizing. Your arguments against everything are becoming thinner and thinner. You have called wolf too often.Talk amongst yourself if it makes you feel better but people that want the swamp drained aren't listening. Not even when your desperate leaders resort to swearing and defaming the President of the United States for its shock value.

With privatization, they are more concerned with profits; everything else is secondary.

I am a pilot. Do you want we pilots to be paid by government?

I had not been informed of this Trump claim you make about him.

Who knows the job of the ATC people?

What do they do for we pilots?

Why do Democrats trust government workers yet they don't trust themselves? They might become a worker for the ATC so why only government as the boss?

Do you know your firefighters are mostly volunteers and not paid?

What happens when they go on strike? This is a horrific idea.

If it's privatized, it would have to be a monopoly because of the complexity of the system. And we all know what happens once a company gains a monopoly - and one so crucial ...? I'm very skeptical that it would work.

The company that controlled Air Traffic could start charging premiums for quicker landings when traffic was backed up. Certain airlines could cut deals for preferred landing times. There is a potential for real abuse.

There is nothing immoral about making a profit. Just about everything else at airports are run by for profit companies. Do you think the guys who fuel planes aren't making a profit?

Trump will sell it off to his cronies and pocket the money, you can bet your life on that. He is grimly determined to double his money while occupying the White House. He is, after all, our fake president.

    This defines faux outrage.

There's nothing wrong with privatizing air traffic control. Hell, my friend who is a 15Q (air traffic controller) would probably welcome it.

    More money, yo!

There is where safety is a major concern.
Profits are often driven by cutting costs - a bad idea for air traffic control, or health care.

There is a lot wrong with privatizing air traffic control. It is called STRIKE, and this would put the public at great risk. And you know that they would strike if they don't get what they want. Another Trump subversion of out system.

Quit reading after the first sentence. Need to see proof that private ATC would not have acted the same way after 9/11.

And the public safety was put in great jeopardy due to near collisions, inexperienced trainees, etc. A disaster for the flying public.

If they are on strike during the attack. You think they will go back to work to help their fellow Americans? NO

Salaries and other employee benefits would only increase, a bad idea for traffic control.
