Victory!

The culture war is arguably the most successful part of his presidency so far. In the past week alone, he handed the right a policy victory by ending ObamaCare’s contraception mandate and a cultural victory by getting the NFL to come out against player protests during the national anthem. If SCOTUS rules next year for the Christian baker in Colorado’s gay-wedding anti-discrimination case with Neil Gorsuch as the deciding vote, that’ll be a landmark victory for religious freedom. There’s not much he can do about ObamaCare repeal while Congress is jammed up (although he’s working on it) but he can fight some cultural battles in the meantime. I wouldn’t underestimate the political potency of even distracting trivia like the NFL matter, given how long the right has been retreating in the culture wars. Every victory is a morale booster to Republicans.

After this speech I bet you notice more Americans saying MERRY CHRISTMAS this year!

Today’s Values Voter speech:

Trump pointed to the Founding Fathers, noting that “Our Creator was invoked four times in the Declaration of Independence.”

“How times have changed, but you know what? Now they’re changing back again. Just remember that,” Trump said in his Washington address.

The youngest American adults are a bit more conservative socially than their older peers.

I want to see him pass a law! LOL! What a bag of hot air. But any adult gullible enough to fall for trump is certainly gullible enough to believe in magic sky gods.

 

I didn't believe in a war against religion but I'm quickly changing my mind.

First and foremost. people need to start suing churches. Sue them for brainwashing and terrorizing children with tales of eternal torture, illegal political activities, racial bias, violation of tax laws, sue them at every turn.

I would bet any young adult raised as an evangelical or fundamentalist could sue their church. They literally terrorize children. I know. I was one of them.

Stop the religious war on children. Sue churches out of existence. Make the price of terrorizing children too high to be worth it.

 

The real headline: Trump calls Christofascists who support the death penalty for gays "friends"

 

The Catholics do their part in terror using homosexual pedophiles.

 

For that matter, kids should go after their nutty religious parents who force feed them religion.

How about I'll say whatever the **** I wanna say and you can kiss my ass if you don't like it.

I am not a Christian. I am a Unitarian universalist. and even though I revere Jesus as a great philosopher, I do not feel the need to celebrate his birth. Especially since Christmas wasn't actually the date of his birth. Christmas was created by the Romans as a way to appease their pagan populations after forcing them to convert to Christianity. It was based on a Roman festival called Saturnalia, with elements of Winter Solstice traditions added in as well. Every Christmas tradition was taken from Paganism, from the Christmas tree to the yule log. Even the story of Jesus' birth in the Christmas tradition was a Christianized retelling of a pagan fable.

Jesus was actually born some time in the spring.

 

What an obvious pandering putz Trump is! And his fans actually believe he gives a **** about religion...

 

I pay attention to the sentiment behind the words. If someone is wishing me a merry Christmas they are wishing me well. If someone is wishing me happy holidays, they are wishing me well. if someone is wishing me a happy Hanukah or Kwanzaa I notice first that they are wishing me well so I smile kindly and return the sentiment in whatever form they chose. All of these are generous pleasantries and none are something to go to war about.

 

Oh my yes...Jesus loved p*ussy-grabbers too.

 

Actually, He loves everyone, even you. He wants us all to turn from these sins, like grabbing genitals and follow Him. You'd have your utopian society, if you did. At least in as much as it is possible for humans who can never be free of sin. You will make mistakes, just like the rest of us, though they may be of a different nature.

I'm sort of happy that it might be okay to say merry Christmas once again. I miss that. It was a nice gesture of love and kindness. I don't really know why anyone would be angry, except they don't understand how it is meant.
