According to Buchanan, the only true democracies in the Middle East is Iran and Syria.. Looks like we don't really like democracies.

What are you talking about. I took a courses on authoritarian regimes and there are many parallels between Hussein and other dictators. He killed hundreds of thousands of his own people. There are tons of papers and studies form political scientists on Saddam Hussein some of the directly comparing his rise to power and his tactics with other regimes.

While I stopped supporting the Iraq war when they announced they were going to let them write their own constitution (anyone with half a brain knew that was an idiotic idea doomed to failure) it was still obvious that Saddam's sons were even worse than their father and completely unstable. We are seeing that today with Kim Jong un being more unstable than his father.

There are two "dictators" that needed to be supported one was obviously Khaddafi and the other was Egypt's military. They proved their worth when they booted out both Mubarak and the Muslim Brotherhood candidate (blanking on his name) after he was elected. Those are the only regimes that are a net positive. And yes I am including the Saudis in the net negative category since they pay for a lot of terrorism out of their own pockets.
