Well, today's scene certainly won't help him with the jury...

    SNIP
Donald Trump walked out of a Manhattan federal courtroom in the middle of closing arguments in the second E. Jean Carroll defamation trial on Friday.

Trump abruptly got up and left as Carroll's attorney, Roberta Kaplan, argued in her closing statements that Trump doesn't respect the jury.

"He continued to defame Ms. Carroll even as this trial was ongoing," Kaplan told the jury.

As Trump left, US District Judge Lewis Kaplan said, "The record will reflect that Mr. Trump just rose and walked out of the courtroom."

This may be the definition of 'riding the fence', but I see good points on both sides. 25 years is a long time to wait to complain, but sexual assault is one of those things that many people hide and feel extremely uncomfortable divulging. I have no personal experience to draw from, but I do know that I have known females who have finally divulged that they were sexually assaulted but didn't tell anyone for many years.
I would have to default to the jury's decision, as they heard all the testimony and had to arrive at a conclusion, whereas we are just anonymous individuals on the internet.
If a jury heard all the aspects of the case, including the defense, and they concluded that Trump had done wrong by E Jean Carrol, then I would tend to accept their decision.
By the way, the trial was about if Trump had defamed her, and they found that he had. The determination was that it was likely he had assaulted her led to the determination that he had defamed her.
The timing of all of this is suspect, and does lend itself to others viewing it as capitalizing on the situation.
Sometimes it's hard to accept a jury's decision, as in the OJ Simpson case. (What, he didn't kill those two people?), but it's important in the system we have that we accept their decisions, and leave the opposition to appeals court.

And good for her.... why let things fester because you were assaulted by Uncle Fester??

Jury in deliberations...I imagine they are holding out for a decent state-provided dinner before writing down a bunch of zeros....

I'm very much against the suing culture ending with the claimant becoming a millionaire over something said or did that isn't going to have a long term effect on the claimant.

Seems they proved otherwise here... lost business oportunities, lost reputation, and tons and tons of death and rape threats...

The punitive part isn't for the effect on the claimant.. it's for the deterence of the defendant.

    Think it'll work??

I’m thinking about Ruby Freeman as an example, a person who can no longer live in her home, who can no longer release her name in public, who fears for her physical safety…

    No “long term effect”…?

Given that $75 million of Rudy’s was a punitive penalty, seems about equitable to me…?

Meaning EJC didn't suffer the same compensatory damages as Ruby did.... which is probably true enough I guess

LOL, lets not forget Trump still has his fraud verdict and Rudy has Dominion.

Don't think the world is done draining these losers....

But does that mean that she should be awarded over $100m? No one would know who she is or recognise her today. She is yesterday's news

No one would know or care who Jean Carroll is if she did not sue Trump

As for Trump, I can't stand him

She has only gained opportunities, only gained in reputation and she received threats after making the accusations, before Trump said anything. And the blowback is in response to her accusations of rape. Accusations the jury didnt believe.
