Is this the same Erdogan who as a politician engineered the take over of the Turkish military for his own purposes after claiming the army was planning his overthrow?

If Israel isn't significantly bothered by that lunatic in Iran, do you really believe they will cower to Erdogan either?

They'll no doubt try to conceal and bluff over it. The fact remains Israel can ill-afford to loose a friend like Turkey, whether its Erdogan or any other Turkish govt.

Time is not in Israel's favour .

There is ONLY ONE ERDOGAN and my bets are that the regime in Tel Aviv is heading for the bunker again.

Perhaps, US companies can build the second Turkish navy?

Are you familiar with Israel's treatment of Gaza's fishermen?

They will cower to anyone who stands up to them. That is why they laugh at Americans.

You're not paranoid if people are really out to get you. One faction of the Turkish army was in fact plotting a coup attempt and they were found out. It's not surprising, given their historical mandate of preserving secularism and their privileged position in Turkish society, that they would be tempted to use force to stop both from being threatened by Mr. Erdogan.

As for comparing Erdogan to Ahmadinejad, they are like chalk and cheese. The first is trying to push a pro-Western, fairly secular country into being more muslim-oriented and is using Israel's behavior to help push that agenda, while Ahmadinejad is battling for control of an anti-Western religion-run Iran with Khameini (not to be confused with Khomeini) and is using strong anti-Israel rhetoric to try and gather support among some traditional supporters of his opponent (the Revolutionary Guards being one example). The only thing they have in common is they are both sane.

The Palestinian fishermen aren't HAMAS.. they are fishermen.. and they operated off the coast of Gaza NOT in the occupied territories.

Israelis are homeowners. They shouldn't expect rockets aimed in their direction.

Correct.. Turkey is the Western model, Iran is the Shia model. Nothing alike.

    What?

The fishermen aren't shooting rockets into the occupied West Bank...

The ones occupying Palestinian homes should. I know I would.

Anyway, I don't believe that Turkey, unlike the spoiled Zionists, would opt for unilateral action.

Maybe not, but fomenting it is the next best option.

Selectivity seems to be your forte, Margot.

It's O.K. for some but not for others? Is that really what you believe?

I do not think this will dissuade the Israelis from continuing their operations. I would be surprised if they back down.
