A few weeks ago, I read all manner of derogatory stuff here about a woman named Sierra, who had been murdered. She was - for all practical purposes - called a slut, and it was suggested she had had sex in a public bathroom just before her death.:hmm:

Anyone here remember that thread ??:confusion:

Now it devolves that some Turkish man-who claims to have been stoned on paint thinner fumes-attempted to rape her, failed, and killed her--then decided tovisit Syria for a while...

It was Jeanette who was so sure that the first man that was held by the Turkish police must be guilty because, quote from Jeanette, "he came from a good family statement by the police", ie her implication Muslim. She refused to believe that he was innocent and was demanding his name to be released. She also accused the (Muslim) police of covering up the case and not bothering to look for the real murderer to protect this Muslim. There is also nothing in the article stating what sierra was doing at 1am in a run down area. You are also jumping the gun by claiming he tried to rape her (police suspect it - not same thing)

Perhaps Jeanette will now apologise to the "good man" family. BTW, the initial suspect known as Taylan did have a sexual relationshp with Sierra which was never denied. The whole point of Jeanette OP was to attack Muslims in Turkey. It was never about Sierra

The rape allegation comes from the defendant's statement.

Where did you get the idea Muslims in Turkey - or any religious-or any secular group anywhere- were so pure and noble as to be beyond reproach ???:eyepopping:

Is there some rule women must be safely behind locked doors after dark ?

The American papers says there are still a lot of questions to be answered, and to be honest I don't trust the Turkish police or the Turkish justice system. What right did they have to denigrate her to the press when it was irrelevent to her murder? Yet they protected the man she knew by not revealing his name, and who just happened to be the one who said these things about her. Very honorable isn't he?

When the FBI is shown the proof and the DNA, then I'll accept it, but until then.....

The man from the FBI who went to investigate, said she was somehow involved with criminals. She was poor, married young and had never been anywhere in her life, so she probably was not aware of the risks she was taking. The trips she made to the Netherlands and Munich were unusual, and I can't help but wonder if she was being used to smuggle drugs? I hope Interpol is looking into it. :please:

Such an unfortunate incident. All I can think of, are her children that will forever be without their mother. *sigh*

I can't and won't, sit in judgement of her actions that lead to this ending. All I will say, is I truly wish she had made more wise or better informed plans. It's just a terrible ending, regardless.

Just to add, the fact that she had connecting flights in the Netherlands and/or Germany, does not automatically indicate anything nefarious, nor is it unusual.

Perhaps her travel budget was limited. Anyone that has traveled internationally should know, more budget friendly flights (less cost), can be had if one is willing to sacrifice time and convenience, by connecting in different countries/cities. Obviously, I don't know her travel/flight log, but I suspect this to be the case.

I have experienced countless international flights, and this issue raises no question for me.

I presume this reply was to my post?
Have I missed something? Where in his statement does he say that he tried to rape her?

Where have I said that anyone is beyond reproach? I have implied that people are innocent until proven guilty unlike Jeanette who automaticlly said he was guilty (because he was Turkish Muslim and was investigated by Turkish police)

Third question I presume is rhetorical, but the my answer to that question is no

I'm not sure if he says he tried to rape her.
(I have not seen the video of his confession, and doubt it would have been in English.):confusion:

I do notice there was flesh under the victim's fingernails-from which DNA was abstracted ; and the police, who seem to have done a meticulous job, believe there was a rape attempt.

... police, who launched a thorough investigation to find the murderer or murderers of the US tourist, found tissue samples under Sierra's nails during the autopsy and came to believe the DNA extracted from the tissue would prove to belong to Z.T. The suspect's family home in the province of Karabük was raided and police collected a DNA sample from Z.T.'s brother, since the suspect had already disappeared. The sample was a close familial match to DNA samples found during the autopsy, confirming Z.T. as the prime suspect in the case.

Police suspect that Z.T. might have first taken Sierra's personal belongings and then attempted to rape her, but decided to kill the woman after she resisted.

This was my first thought when I read of DNA being taken from "21 different persons". Hair, skin, other DNA as well as fiber that could possibly match to the killer or killers.

Unfortunately (IMO), in the earlier thread, that bit information seemed to be used in an attempt to disparage/degrade the victim.

In any struggle, including rape or straight forward robery or bag snatching etc, DNA under finger nails would, IMO, most likely come from the guilty persons upper body, face or arms being most likely. I cannot see any info on why the police assume rape, perhaps more details will be released during the trial.

The sampling of 21 men was only highlighted by Jeanette following Abu playing devil's advocate (as can be seen by Abu later post stating that the 21 included tourist guides). For some reason Jeanette did not understand why in an investigation the police may want to question everyone who she may have had contact with. By questioning these people, and going further than many police enquiries, actually taking DNA samples, shows that they were much more thorough than most other countries police. The police were not degrading the victim. They have no control on what others write on the internet. They were doing a thorough investigation. If this person turns out as the guilty one, these Turkish police must be congratulated on doing a thorough and fast job solving of a crime.

I have an awful distrust of a nation whose judicial system is condemned throughout the world. Also one who has a leader who is a habitual liar. :wall:

An example: When the American ambassador told Erdogan to correct Turkeys judicial system in which over one hundred journalists are in jail as suspected terrorists, Erdogan blew his top. Later on he said that the ambassador sent him a letter of apology admitting he was wrong. Well guess what, our State Department said the ambassador never sent an apology.

Another example: When a Syrian plane coming from Russia was brought down, the Turkish authorities said it was carrying arms. Normally the arms would have been shown immediately, but they were never shown. Russia rejected the accusations and told Erdogan to admit he was wrong, but Erdogan refused to do so.

Another example: When the Syrian plane was shot over Syrian waters, Erdogan said it was over international waters. No proof was ever given, and he has never retracted it. I know the two pilots were Kurds, and their families brought the matter to court. It seems the plane had a faulty navigational system and should never have been in the air. The pilots as far as I can tell, were being sacrificed in order to creat an incident so that Nato would intervene.

Another example: Erdogan and his government keeps saying that the U.S. asked Turkey to put an early warning radar system near the Iranian border, and yet Clinton said it's not true, Turkey was the one who asked to have them placed there.

Another example: When seven Turkish jets flew over the island of Chios, and were chased away by the Greek jets, the newspapers reported it as Turkish student pilots being harassed by Greek jets. Anyway there are a lot more incidents and lies like this, to the point where Erdogan and his grinning side kick Devotoglu make me sick to my stomach.

Offhand, I'd say Jeannette is less-than-fond of Turks.

Some people like them- others (Armenians, for example) hate them.

My older brother was attached as a liason radio operator to a Turkish brigade during the Korean war, and had a lot of respect for them as fighting men (but considered them just a bit crazy, after seeing they took ears as trophies.):salute:

Yeah, I'm not too fond of the US ATM either!

My best friends in college was an Armenian. Funniest guy I've ever known, but when he started talking about the Turks and the Kurds, there was steel and fire in his voice. He was the first person to tell me in detail about The Great Crime. Hated them with a purple passion, and I can't say I blame him. Haven't talked to him in a while, I'm a bit curious what he thinks about his nationality being represented by the Kardashians!

Her destination was Turkey. She had no plans to go to Amsterdam or Munich because her husband only knew of the Turkey visit. From Turkey she bought trip to Amsterdam and on the flight back stopped off in Munich.

Seems more like she was a drug carrier and that was why was was sighted a few times in very bad areas oustside tourism areas and once she landed they bought the flights to Amsterdam etc for the drug part of the trip. No point buying her a ticket till she landed in Turkey so that will be why they waited and why her husband knew nothing about that part of the trip.
She was killed on the last day of her trip. Possibly she went to the drug people before she left to maybe get another job on the way back and was killed by the glue sniffer.

Tarlan said had had sex with her in the bar toilet in the first few days after she landed.

I see. I did not realize that she had already arrived in Turkey, then departed and came back.

I understand now, how that could cause suspicion/speculation.

Thank you for the info, AS.
