Here’s something you may find interesting. My area of responsibility was southern New Mexico and my company would often chose different locations for management meetings so we could all get to know each other. As I drove to the first meeting I ever attended in Roswell I saw the billboards advertising the crash site and thought it might be interesting to look at. One of the other managers at the meeting was born and raised in Roswell and lived there for nearly seventy years so I asked him about the site. He said that site, because of the conspiracies and plain old curiosity, brought prosperity to the city and it grew in size tremendously. As the city expanded it got closer and closer to the site which caused problems for the people who lived there. So they moved the site farther out. You read that right. After hearing that I was no longer interested in looking at it.

Roswell, NM is eating up the publicity since the 1950s. And ever since, we have had TV shows and movies with Roswell in the background, among other things. And yes, it is big $$$$ for those tourist traps.

Also, I am not surprised that they moved the sight. Makes sense to me. But anyway, we still have people who believe that aliens are living on earth as we speak, among other things. And this recent incident in Alaska and off the coast of NC will further those conspiracy theories.

You do know UFO or the better term IMO UAP does not necessarily mean extraterrestrial. An object that defies physics should be concerning to everyone.

I do know that, but it will take a while for me to get acclimated to the news terms used for unidentifying flying objects or balloons or whatever. But if you want nostalgia, binge-watch "In Search Of" on UFOs back in the 70s. Interesting along with their other episodes.

The new term best describes the objects because of how they move which many defy physics. Forget the shapes because we can build any type of design but we can't make it move the way they do which is what "arial phenomenon" means. Being an aviator I am intrigued by flight.

I don’t believe we have aliens walking among us and I don’t believe we’ve been visited because of our location on the outer part of our galaxy, it’s just too far. But I do think there’s more out there than just us. Hubble took a deep space image of a patch of sky where there was nothing to see, it was thought to be empty space. I believe it was a four hour exposure and instead of seeing nothing they saw thousands of galaxies. Who knows what’s out there.

One of my favorite wide body jets was the MD10/11. I always enjoyed flying on that plane. Next favorite is the 777-300ER with two specific airlines.

My philosophy is this when it comes to aliens, "we know aliens exist because they have not landed here." That may not be the exact quote, but it follows the premise of that quote. At the same time, because of the Hubble Telescope and the Weber Telescope, we have discovered earth-like planets out there that may contain life. We do have some evidence that life once existed on Mars a long time ago. So, we are either too aggressive for aliens to come here or we have not evolved our communications to which we can discover aliens outside of our solar system. What they look like, how they sound, or if they are actually carbon-based lifeforms, I have no idea. There is that possibility beyond what we see in Sci-Fi and apocalypse alien invasion movies that tend to be very popular. But movies are fantasy, no matter what the subject is.

In theory I suppose you could dangle a giant cabled grappling device out of the bed of an aircraft that could deflate the balloon and grab the payload as it flew over it. But unless you knew ahead of time how much weight you were going to be snatching, that might not be a wise choice. This things was somewhere around the max altitude of a C-130 and the outside air temp at 40K feet stays around -70F. The theoretically possible might very well end up a suicide mission to try it.

It isn't aliens, it is the Chinese. We just shot down another one of their spy drones over Lake Huron. These are unprecedented acts of war by the Chinese. They do not respect us, they do not fear us and they have the same contempt for American leaders that the American people have. We moving into extremely dangerous times.

Any idea how that thing got so deep into North America without being spotted? Did it come over Canada or did it come from the pacific?

I don't know how in the hell China is doing it. I do believe this is a hegemonic move. They are asserting their dominance over us. My best guess is that they are mapping every nuclear site on American soil for targeting purposes. This is clearly unprecedented stuff and I am worried that they have just taken a step past American technology. If so, things go escalate fast. If their tech is more advanced than ours, we are all kinds of focked. China is testing America for weakness and we are correct to shoot down every single one of these spy vehicles.

You do know we did this with someone name Gary Powers in 1961, right? And we do it with satellites far over the limits of any conventional aircraft. However, the first was probably Chinese. The one shot down over the Yukon may or may not have been Chinese. But right now, the military is being reactionary. Not saying it is a bad thing or a good thing, but that is how government reacts after something like the Balloon being spotted and the internet wanted it shot down before he decision was ever made.

The latest was flying at 20,000 feet, low enough to use a slow moving UAV to video it and get a clear shot of it. I believe we’re not being told the truth no surprise there. Were any objects shot down?

This was a tiny balloon. Why use a missile at this lowish height. It's all part of the bogey man propagation and a show of "see, we are doing something to protect you" after all the backlash regarding the first balloon. Very much political. Little doubt these balloons have been going over for decades
