    You missed out Shetland.

The people of Shetland don't consider themselves to be Scottish - in fact, they don't like the Scots that much; they call Scotland "the land of bad grain and greedy ministers" - and there are many Shetlanders who want independent from Scotland. Even the Shetland MSP is demanding more autonomy from Scotland for Shetland. And there are experts who believe that, in the unlikely event of Scotland breaking away from the UK, Shetland will not be joining it and will instead become part of England.

In fact, there is a bigger movement for autonomy in Shetland than there is in Cornwall (which isn't a nation but is merely an English county), yet you forgot to mention Shetland.

There is also a campaign, led by the English Democrats, for Wales to hand England back the county of Monmouthshire, which was annexed by Wales in the 1960s.

Are the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly any better?

He's very Welsh, is our Iolo. I know him from other discussion forums, such as Historum (where people know me by another name).

He reminds me of Llewellyn, the permanently angry and weird Welshman in Only Fools and Horses spin-off comedy series The Green Green Grass, who is constantly feuding with his neighbours Boycie and Marlene, who live just yards from the border with Wales in Shropshire.

If Westminster is the English Parliment, then where the hell is the British one? Britain must be the only nation state in the world without its own parliament.

And if Westminster is the English Parliament then please tell me why there are Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish MPs, representing Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish constutuencies, sitting in it? These MPs should be kicked out immediately.

Ah no worries I don't expect everybody to abide by the same rules.
I take it with a pinch of salt. I mean I used to live a very literal stones throw away from the Welsh border and one I've always noticed is that the Welsh have an excellent sense of humour.

Not in the slightest but I can't blame them for wanting cling to a symbol of independence. Still against the idea though. Damned secessionists ha ha.

The fact that right wingers want something doesn't mean they'll get it, because they can only twist reality a little way, despite their control of the Noise Machine. Want ew!

A nation is any group of people that considers itself such. As you know, 'England' has always been used to mean 'Britain': it is a non-people. As to your drunken nuttermates, I should keep VERY quiet about them. Be clear about this though: nobody here gives a twopenny about what any of your whitetown strutter think. Our future is for us to discuss and decide, not a lot of posturing foreigners.

Well thanks for getting back to me on that one. Yes not everybody gets what they want, c'est la vie.
You know I always thought that the press was meant to generate profit for itself but you've challenged that view.

"Want ew!" EH? I may of grown up with the text speak capable generation but I do use English. I have heard of ewer but I can't think of what relevence that would have.

So, the English are a nation, then. Right, that's settled that argument.

Not whilst Wales is in the EU, it's not.

For as long as Wales is in the EU that pathetic, pointless little place will always be run by posturing foreigners.

Wales's future is for the Brussels Sprouts to decide.

Here is the result for Cornwall in the English county elections:

    Party....No of councillors....% of vote

    Liberal Democrat ...36 ...23%
    Independent ...35... 21%
    Conservative ...31 ...24%
    UKIP ...6 ...15%
    Labour ...6... 7%
    Mebyon Kernow... 4... 5%
    The Labour and Co-operative Party ...2 ...1%
    Unspecified ...2 ...1%
    Green Party ...1 ...3%
    Liberal Party in Cornwall 0 < 1%

It doesn't look like there's much appetite for independence from England in Cornwall.

And it seems they are more in favour of withdrawing from the EU than they are from England.

Russia won the War in Europe, 'The Russian Hordes' did. Our terrible bombs helped, such wickedness, It is no wonder that Hitler had to be so vilified to cover our own atrocities.

Hitler did not want to fight either of us, we attacked him. Germany was not ready for War not did it expect it Germany was attacked from all sides by Russia,( France) Britain and last but not least the USA .

Should Britain have been involved at all or even fought on Germanys' side against Communism? Those are the real questions and what were the true reasons for Britains' involvement in either of what became World Wars? Churchilll surely lost us The Empire by his stubborn obsession with beating Hitler and mmmmmm someone did give him a huge income, enough to keep a huge house with 20 servants and enabled him such luxuries as wearing silk next to his skin always.

Are you kidding me? Hitler was desperate for war. He tried his best to cause a war and he got what he wanted. He so desperately wanted war that throughout the 1930s the Germans beefed up their military to prepare for it.

To say that Germany wasn't ready for war is just ludicrous. The Germans re-established the Luftwaffe in 1935 in defiance of the Treaty of Versailles. In the mid-Thirties the Germans began planning for a strategic bomber force and sought to incorporate strategic bombing into a war strategy.

And you seem to have forgotten that whilst Hitler was desperate for war Britain initially tried to avoid war by appeasing Hitler.

That's because Germany was marching into neighbouring countries in order to set up an Aryan Third Reich and was sending their Jews off to concentration camps to be gassed and incinerated.

And remember that it was Germany and Japan who declared war on the USA. The USA didn't declare war on Germany and Japan. The Germans and the Japanese were the aggressors. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor when the USA wasn't even in the war.

No, Britain should not have fought on the same side as the Nazis. And Britain declared war on Germany in 1939, and so started WWII, because Germany invaded Poland, and Britain and Poland were bound by treaty to protect one another should either one be attacked by Germany.

Considering that Churchill rid Europe of Nazism I should think he was perfectly entitled to such luxuries.

Darling i am probably closer to the War than you are.I grew up with the men who had fought both wars. I wish and i believed for most of my life that it was for the betterment of us all. Oh I wish ............It was not. My heart broke along time ago, what fools we are and those sweet thing who died Jesus jesus jesus Oh sweet jesus what a load of evil money making (*)(*)(*)(*)! The bastards it was all about money.

Do not lecture or moralize around me, I grew up with bomb sites and in the company of those who had gone through two Wars I also grew up in a Land which still hung innocent men and women just to prove the power of Gv

Go and do some serious research child and then get back to me but get off ya high horse 'cos pride is the only bloody thing that comes before a fall.

And don't get me wrong I do not deny us.I do not deny who and what we were and are. But truth please not sentimentality nor (*)(*)(*)(*)ing useless (*)(*)(*)(*)ing guilt.

They were soldiers and so were we, respect.

Women here sympathized with women 'over there', what difference? All were women wanting peace to bring up their babies in, all had men fighting in a War for (*)(*)(*)(*)ing Bankers..

Everyone is sick to death of the phoneys who run the UK, and a great many are dim enough to vote for anyone the Noise Machine tells them is 'the opposition' to those phoneys. If you windbags ever try to deny sensible people a voice, I'm afraid you wont last long. Poodles can put on jackboots, but they remain poodles.

The press exists, as you know, to carry adverts, and the people who advertise are not, surprise surprise, opposed to the system that has made its usual grotesque mess of people's lives. Posture ew!

Can you be more specific, please? Who are the poodles, who's wearing jackboots, who are the phoneys, who are the windbags and who are the sensible people being denied a voice? Don't hold back; say what you mean!

And yet I seem to know more about WWII than you do.

I'll quit lecturing you when you start writing the facts about WWII rather than a load of rubbish.

You do you research. Considering I had to correct almost everything you said about WWII it's clear that it's you who needs to do some research.
