    A rare typo . Busy packing .
    It should be East Ukraine.
Incidentally Belarus has ploughed an independent furrow -- though after the passing of Lukaschenko , developments will be interesting .

For Russia, the euro is almost immaterial. The course of our ruble is based on the two currencies, the euro and usd.
If Russia WTO member it is more useful to Europe than to Russia.

No, Ukrainians may not choose all by themselves. The Ukraine is like many others, in that it has many internationally disputed lands in its territory. Most recently, the Ukraine handed back one of those lands to Romania at the Danube delta.

Most of the Ukraine is under claims by other nations, such as Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, the Tatars of Krim, and even the "independent" Western Ukrainians/Gallicians in Lviv.

So, the disintegration/devolution of the Ukraine should be an internationally managed excercise, like most East European devolutions have been.

It remains an interesting question what happens to those nations of today's Ukraine that can't take part in the devolution negotiations. Will they be persecuted to total extinction/assimilation, like many East European nations have been in recent history?

Is your bet that Romania will now stop being interested in those ex-Romanian territories? I believe Romania wants Odessa too. How long will the Ukraine keep all those lands? I think a forever will not be an option. (Although the Ukraine is a FAR better administrator than any of those little nationalistic jerk countries around it.)

Now this is funny. And also interesting. Which part of Romania do you think the Ukraine could lay a claim on? And for what reason? And 50 % of Romania? What part of it?

    Fantasy .
The EU would not allow Romania to even think seriously of the idea .
And Russia would go ape if it became a serious prospect .
And if that is not enough , Romania would have me to deal with .I am a big Odessa fan and I am not aware of any Romanian involvement for at least the last 300 years .
