This has to stop. This company is going under because the unions require so much for their workers. Even in the face of the company going out of business the unions refuse to take cuts. The unions are like a leech sucking the blood till the host dies.

If only Americans had Japanese business loyalty. They're always switching jobs, so employers give them these outrageous benefits.

They are forced to give them these benefits or they strike and don't let anyone else work. This is criminal.

They are going to run themselves right out of a job and they don't care. They are beyond greedy.

From what i've heard, the company claimed poverty; the union asked them to open up the books for an impartial actuary to look at and the company refused to allow it.

Sounds to me like the company is hiding something. I don't blame the union for refusing. If they have to strike, then so be it.

Hostess is going down for quite a few reasons, not the least of which is the fact that customers are becoming increasingly health conscious, and Hostess offers nothing for them. Twinkies? Really?

Hostess is failing because they're not reacting to changes in the market. The union benefits are just a side issue, and honestly not as big of an issue as the corporate media is trying to portray.

You get loyalty when you have loyalty. American businesses express no loyalty to the worker, so the worker in turn shows no loyalty to the company.

No, Hostess is failing because they have to pay more in benefits than they recieve in income. When they came out of bankruptcy a few years ago the Unions refused to renegotiate their contracts. The company had no choice but to go forward and now they are in the same spot.

This has nothing to do with opening their books but it does have to do with competition. Hostess is so saddled by union rules that they can't compete with companies without unions. They have to have specific drivers driving specific trucks at specific times or they get fined. Just plain BS

    Amen.

Loyalty is as gone as the American dream. It's been replaced exclusively by mega profit. If the fat cats can't make cash instantly, and hand over fist, they cry pauper. American businesses don't produce anything anymore anyway. What the successful "business" is really good at though, is producing money through the smoke and mirrors of market manipulation. The successful business has very creative book keeping. The actual labor they so happen to employ is merely secondary. Loyalty certainly doesn't mix well with mega profit, and corporate business succeeds through money manipulation...not actual production.

Hostess will die. Mitt Romney's sources will come along, scoop it up, fire 75% of everybody, and force the remaining 25% too desperate to take a fraction of their previous wages. People like Mitt will pat themselves on the back and call it "job creation" and we'll be one step closer to actual slave labor.

I'm sure there is some Chinese look-alike version out there. Some prison laborer who is paid absolutely nothing is filling them with anti-freeze instead of cream as we speak.

Yeah, right on!! Of course sending those jobs to China cause the workers there will be shot if they even think of striking is not criminal at all.

Don't you know Corporations never have secrets. Our corporate masters never, ever, even think of doing anything criminal. They are Gods and as such, they should have the freedom to do whatever they want. Its always all about the profit.

Yes, as it should be. If everyone were concerned about making a living and being prosperous, the world would be much more enjoyable.

I'm happy to see unionized workers lose their jobs. They are in league with the enemy.

Yes...everybody grab a pair of scissors, and cut cut cut. Eventually, some profit will be recognized. The hell with the future.

Yeah man. 3 dollar an hour labor is so much more profitable than paying a living wage.

No pain no gain. In order to extirpate leftism the ends justify the means. I learned this from the left. This is a form of war.

I agree. The problem is when these union pigs lose their jobs they will demand Government give them one at our expense.

Would the American worker have a much more enjoyable life if the corporate CEO he worked for just outsourced his job to Malaysia because this CEO is concerned about making a living (or more like maintaining a certain standard of living) and being prosperous?

    It's the company's job, not the employee's.

I have to agree......When Unions first formed it was to fight for basic workers' rights, but now days workers are just spoiled and strike over stupid things.....

Unions needs to be regulated just as much as businesses do. This is the reason I support right to work laws.

Everything is the company's. The employee is merely an unfortunate business expense that the stuffed shirts are working hard to resolve.
