So not everyone will be in a "world" that is "much more enjoyable"

Seeing how corporations are given the right to do business in America, it really is an American job. If corporations cannot bring a benefit to America (like employing Americans), maybe they shouldn't be allowed to do business in America.

"Hostess Brands Inc. is seeking bankruptcy protection, blaming its pension and medical-benefits obligations, increased competition, and tough economic conditions.

"One of the firm's problems is that some health-conscious Americans favor energy bars over the dessert cakes and white bread they devoured 30 years ago.

"Last year, 36 percent of Americans ate white bread at home, down from 54 percent in 2000, according to NPD Group. Meanwhile, about 54 percent ate wheat bread, up from 43 percent in 2000.

"Consumption of healthy snacks is growing too. About 32 percent of Americans ate yogurt at least once in two weeks in 2011, for instance, up from 18 percent in 2000."

    "Given the right"???

Every person in America has an automatic right to engage in commerce in America, other countries grant rights, in America, you are born with the rights and Government's job is to protect them.

Your socialist worldview is incompatible with traditional American cultural values. Why are you such a proponent of petty tyranny and bossing people around??

Well, I say just fire everybody, sell off any assets, and wait for the state to give you a tax incentive to rebuild. That should leave just enough for some CEO somewhere to give himself a fat bonus in the meantime.

Nobody is "given" rights, rights are ours by nature. When has fascism become the standard by which people live?

Your right, I guess a corporation doing business is more like a privilege. Kinda like getting a license to drive a car is a privilege granted by the state, not a right.

Break the unions, the govt., and big business. Force them to incur vast expenses and starve them for revenue. Fight them everywhere.

Seems like The higher ups will be forced to cut their pay in half, and rightfully so. Making 30 million a year hurts a company alot more than making 70k a year.

Not everything belongs to "the company". Companies certainly don't own the skills, determination, integrity, and discipline to cooperatively accomplish all the variety of tasks required to make the company (and maybe its employees) grow in prosperity. That little word "maybe" underlies at least one of the reasons that unions and government regulations are still around; the folks that routinely hold and handle corporate profits aren't always nice, conscientious, honest, trickle-down kind of people.

Anyway, you're right for the most part. If we could ALL be replaced by machines that could more efficiently perform what it is that we all do "at work", and especially if our replacement machines had orgasmic payback periods, it wouldn't take very long before we'd all be enjoying things like surfing in the ocean waves on some gorgeous tropical isle... maybe resting in an easy chair with a good book; or more likely, rotting at the bottom of some huge system of mass graves, long forgotten but for the stench.

Change their pensions to 401(k)'s and eliminate dues check off. Then file for complete reorganization, start the company from new and boot the Union. They will then have to negotiate from scratch and eliminate dues check off.

Yeah, because everyone's 401(k) did so great during the Republican recession.

LOL. Do you really believe that?

Without unions the workers are unprotected. And big business will grow everywhere and more if there is not government or really small government.

And you can't ban the unions. The unions of today are the ones called yellow unions. These unions are "rightist" unions. In USA you have a very few leftist unions. And if you reduce the rights of the workers to levels never seen from the XIX century don't surprise yourself when you start to see real unions. Unions that not pact. Revolutionary unions or unions that will strike with force.

Do you want to mantain capitalism? Then mantain workers against misery. If you bring workers to misery, don't expect that they will be quiet. And more when they won't have anything to lose. That is the best way to start revolutionary movements.

$100M a year in union pension benefits. That's a lotta Twinkies.

Gotta wonder how greedy union members have to be to demand bennies that end up bankrupting the company? It's like they have absolutely no regard for the workers who need to make a living after they're gone.

"We've got ours... to hell with you & yours" seems to be the union motto.

I blame Michelle Obama. Too bad she doesn't have the same passion for Twinkie's she has for short ribs... the company would be fine.
