You are totally correct. It matters not what they did; there are rules for dealing with juveniles. I also think that deck hands are unlikely to be involved in any way with the motivation for these voyages. They are, as you say, simply kids from a very poor society who are trying to make some money for their families.

I agree that holding children in adult detention centres is disgusting, but I am not entirely sure a US national is in much of a position to throw stones. :-D

    Real slow …….

You support the rights of people to claim asylum? You support their right to pay people smugglers to bring them here.

    These people smugglers use juveniles.

People lose their lives on people smuggling boats.

You support this misery. Get over your-self for once. Stop the deflection. This is the industry you think is good and legal.

It leads to misery. Well done.

All white flags greatly accepted from hypocrites.

It shows that you don't want to get arrested for murder in the US when you are still a child. The US must feel mighty proud of itself for murdering two little children.

James Arcene was executed in 1885 and George Stinney in 1944. Australia has a long way to go to enter the 21st century.

LOL! Oh, it's so terrible to execute murderers who are 'little children'. Surely you're joking.

It's terrible to execute anyone, no matter their age or crime.

Executing children: that's just beyond belief.

Any country/state/province with a death penalty is certainly not an advanced society.

America is the one who did the murdering. You don't kill kids for stealing. Jesus Christ, what kind of a backwards country was America back then?

Right... Because everybody is essentially good, eh? And the murderer, they need to think of what they've done and become rehabilitated.

Actually, it's really the other way around to me. You throw someone in jail for life, that's torture. You execute them, it's over. You're not only doing the murderer a favor by executing, but society as a whole.

No, because no one has the right to take another person's life by means of a premeditated action.

    Simple.

Actually it was. Don't they teach history in the USA!?!

About 50,000 convicts were transported to North America from Britain under the Transportation Act of 1718. It was the loss of the American War of Independence that led the British to seek a new location to sent convicts - ie Australia.

Oh...I see. It is all clear now.

    Let me play:

    I support the Brisbane Broncos.
The Brisbane Bronco's Captain is Darren Lockyer,
    and
Darren was the first name of Samantha's husband in "Bewitched"

    so.....

    WE SHOULD BURN ALL WITCHES!!!!!!

Irrational racism must be a wonderful comfort for you. The rest of us are forced to live in a world of logic.

Now - we were discussing here the treatment of juveniles in Australian prisons. Isn't there a Stormfront website or something you could go to?

Exactly the same way we should make all important decisions.

    We ask Alan Jones.

The current method has proven to have a zero success rate. These people are coming from a country which cooperates readily with Australian authorities and keeps records of all its citizens. The useless wrist xray method is used because immigration authorities refuse to accept the existing evidence that these kids are below age and instead attempt to prove against all evidence that these kids are over 18.

    Ian.
You still haven`t revealed the number of criminals you are referring to here, "up to ninteen" could mean -----one?

You still haven`t revealed the ages of these criminals, even though they have comitted adult crimes, and they have placed themselves in a position of "responsibility" for numerous lives at sea.

You haven`t addressed the fact that unsafe maritime practices are killing people at sea, and that we need to be doing all in our power to discourage this barbaric trade. Encouraging children to crew these floating coffins is dispicable at best.

This item has the smell of dodgy, deceptive, biased, sensational, selective journalism. To my way of thinking, the preservation of human life takes prioity over using a technicality to spin out on guilt ridden sensationalism. I doubt very much that any of these "boys", although inexperienced in seamanship, are babes in arms. At 16 I was self sufficient, out in the world, taking all responsibilities as an adult. At 17, my father was at war, we aren`t all slow developong betas.

We are discussing the treatment of juveniles used in the insidious crime of people smuggling, that you support.

You have no come back so you resort to pathetic attempts to brand people. There is nothing on this thread I have written that is racist.

You are grasping at straws because you know you support and industry that uses minors to help illegally smuggle people.

You have no leg to stand on hypocrite. Your pathetic use of the Storm-front line shows how desperate you are to deflect the obvious.

Stop supporting this insidious trade you left wing feel gooders and your problem will decrease.
