"President Joe Biden said in a statement: “The United States does not seek conflict in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world. But let all those who might seek to do us harm know this: If you harm an American, we will respond.

This afternoon, at my direction, U.S. military forces struck targets at facilities in Iraq and Syria that the IRGC and affiliated militia use to attack U.S. forces,” Biden said. “Our response began today. It will continue at times and places of our choosing.

"The strikes took place over about 30 minutes, and three of the sites struck were in Iraq and four were in Syria, said Lt. Gen. Douglas Sims, director of the Joint Staff."

"U.S. Central Command said the strikes used more than 125 precision munitions, and they were delivered by numerous aircraft, including long-range B-1 bombers flown from the United States."

Proving when he gets to do the planning, not a former president, our military under President Biden's Administration can excel.

My favorite part was him stating "at my direction,". LOL

Really, who else's direction could it have been Joe?

Also, if what he said is true then we can pull out of this civil war backing the Yemeni regime because...why?

I wanna ask my fellow PF'ers: When is the last time we've actually done something that we can say, exclusively is to our benefit? I hate that we have to use our military to the benefit of others.

It was an attack by OUR Military in retaliation for an attack on OUR Military; who else did it benefit? :wtf:

I may be wrong but....wasn't it Iran that was ultimately responsible? If so, why are we targeting places other than Iran?

Cheese and Rice, give the guy a break. I know I've heard the same thing from Reagan, and Dubya; it just a customary introduction so the whole world knows without doubt how the even originated; at the direction of The President of the United States.

To keep from starting an regional war that could escalate. Iran used surrogates, we attacked the surrogates. If we attacked Iran directly then we would be bringing their allies into the fray; you know Russia, China.

They hit sites, read the headline, in Iraq; what more do you want? :wtf:

So how many enemy people were eliminated? Keeping in mind that Iran has no respect for human life, so we would need to kill, say, 1000 of the enemy for every one American killed. So how many? Or did we warn them and hit empty spaces?

So, when Biden said, per the OP, "But let all those who might seek to do us harm know this: If you harm an American, we will respond.”" he was lying?

Iran using surrogates does not in any way shape or form absolve them of their part in the attacks. And Iran will continue as long as they keep getting away with the crap they do without being personally held responsible for their actions.

It's probably to early to expect exact numbers of any damage and casualties.

Sites in Iraq and Syria were hit. It probably makes them hesitate before attacking U.S. If not I'm sure we will respond until the DO get the message.

These responses, especially, this early after the attack, show just how hyper-critical the Right is about everything President Biden does.

As opposed to being hypercritical of Trump when he directed a scholar terrorist to be killed? What's good for the goose, is good for the gander.

Like I said....by attacking places other than Iran. Who are the ones actually responsible for the attacks. Not Iraq. Not Syria. But Iran. Again, just because Iran uses surrogates does not absolve them of the attacks.

Yes, because we are backing the Yemeni government against the Houtis, glad I could clear that up for you. We should either A: Get out of the civil war, or B: Decisively win the war. The tit-for-tat is what's decreasing stability in the region.

I think that is the over riding question. Who the hell are we there for? We have troops scattered across this terribly screwed up and dangerous area and the only protection they have is a wobbly old man issuing a firm DONT. He drew a line and Iran crossed it so we retaliate by bombing inconsequential sites in a war zone.

"Tower 22" in Jordan is used by the U.S. to gather intel on Syria. How do you know the sites attacked are inconsequential?

That's horseshit, the world is on fire because Iran and it's surrogates fear peace between Israel and the Saudis will make them inconsequential.
