This is a disturbing revelation to me. The use of white phosphorus against humans has long been banned and constitutes a war crime.

We cannot combat evil with its own methods and hope to be thought of as just.

Willie Pete is not a chemical weapon like poisionous gas. It is an explosive and highly affective. I was in Fallujah and I only saw it used twice. Iraqi's? Our bodies were found with ID's from every Islamo country in the world, and the least represented was Iraq. At least we did not butcher non-combatants and hang them from bridges. Perspective.

Actually WP is classed as a chemical weapon and we have agreed not to use it.

However, I get your point, and understand that we faced atrocities daily there.

But we can't compromise our morals and hope to maintain our status as humane and just.

Wasn't Saddam having chemical weapons one of the reasons we cited for why he's such a bad guy and we had to invade? Along with torture rooms like Abu-Ghraib? Along with violations of international law? Along with supporting terrorist groups? etc.

Then why deny using it? Common sense. If there isnt an issue of it being a war crime you wouldnt deny its usage.

Those were the reasons given, yes.

We never found WMD's or chemical weapons though.

Also...Abu Ghraib was American soldiers torturing captives...not Saddam.

You mean like assassinating Americans citizens without due process guaranteed them by the Constitution with drone strikes? You mean like that?

Yeah actually I do mean like that.

However, this thread is not about the drone attacks. There are numerous threads about that, if you wish to talk about them I suggest seeking those threads out.

War crimes yes, but I started this thread on a specific issue. I'd like to stay on that topic rather than have the thread disintergrate into an all out brawl around partisan political issues.

    Bullcrap, on all counts.

By yours and the article's asinine illogic, ALL FIREARMS and other ordinance are "chemical weapons".

The POINT is to KILL THE ENEMY,and "willy petes" are VERY EFFECTIVE in dispersing entrenched positions.

    It's called "WAR". Grow up.

So you have no issue with any tactic any enemy of ours would use? I mean its war right?

Uh no actually Willie Pete is classed as a chemical weapon because its is a chemical that is used as napalm in many cases.

We are held to a higher standard than terrorists and tyrants.

    You need to grow up.

I have an issue with EVERYTHING our ENEMY DOES, because they are OUR "ENEMY".

    Why don't you?

The Chemical Weapons convention does regard the use of white phosphorus as a chemical weapons.

The United States never ratified that part of the Convention. Alas, this is a historical pattern. The US also failed to ratify the original Geneva Convention, which outlawed the use of the dumb dumb bullet (which we were using in large quantities in the Phillipines at the time).

When we start BEHEADING civilian captives, you can make your ASININE ATTEMPT to equivocate.

Until then, try to grasp the concept that we INTEND TO KILL THE ENEMY.

Would you be happier if we used a missile?

So the ends justify the means?

Some of us actually hold principles. We don't support the use of the same methods as terrorists.

Willie Pete is used as an obscurant. A smoke bomb that blinds the scumbags to the movements of American troops.

Not very often and certainly not in areas where civilian casualties are possible.

Bullcrap. Your "principles" only extend to criticizing the US military.

You have NEVER posted a thread complaining about the SAVAGERY of the islamists...EVER.

We don't use the "same methods" as the terrorists, or we would be placing bombs in SCHOOL BUSES, etc.

Once again, drop your PHONY ATTEMPT at "moral superiority"...

Yes. Unless its being used as a chemical weapon and ignited. Then it essentially napalm and will burn straight to the bone.
