This is just sad. They have to be told not to throw feces or for it to be "strewn in, on or about"? I guess we can assume this is a regular practice of this union and others like it. what a shame, I guess its a sign of the times.
Actually it makes perfect sense... This is outrageous!! What right does this evil corporation have to demand its employees refrain from spreading their excrement on company property!!?
Ummm...hello! Don't you know civilized behavior and morality are completely subjective constructs invented by oppressive corporate slave owners and right wing extremists?. Jeez...righties.
Verizon is one of the most consciencious, ethical corporations around, and has been recognized as such: NEW YORK August 11, 2009 Verizon Communications is the highest-ranked U.S.-based telecommunications company in a recently released ethical-ranking study by Covalence, a research firm in Geneva, Switzerland, that tracks the reputations of multinational corporations. Verizon ranked second in the telecommunications sector - behind Vodafone, which is headquartered in England - and 35th overall in Covalence's second-quarter report, up 11 spots from its first-quarter ranking. Covalence reviewed a total of 541 global companies, including 30 telecommunications companies. The Covalence study is based on a reputation index that uses data from thousands of documents found in the media, as well as publications from large enterprises, nongovernment organizations and other sources. The data is then classified according to 45 criteria such as labor standards, waste management, human rights policy, environmental impact of production and social sponsorship. Earlier this year, Verizon's corporate responsibility efforts were recognized by Corporate Responsibility Officer magazine and The Big Money, a Web site that focuses on aspects of economics and money. CRO magazine ranked Verizon No. 32 on the publication's 100 Best Corporate Citizens List. Verizon, which was the only telecommunications company on the list, received its highest CRO score for philanthropy, ranking 9th in that category. http://newscenter.verizon.com/press-releases/verizon/2009/verizon-communications-3.html As an investor in Verizon , for more than ten years, I'm sick of the union's bullcrap; get back to work, or lose your job, would by my ONLY offer to the friggin' thugs.
It doesn't matter; right wing hate thread (variant: union) in progress. Even if the OP is fully or partially debunked, the 'piling-on' will continue unabated, as we have seen recently in other threads (the alleged bad guy bullet in the police radio, the alleged $30 million in fitted sheet costs). Eventually the OP will become irrelevant to the central theme of repeatedly and illogically bashing whatever the subject of the OP was. There will be no discussion of the underlying facts of the strike, since that is of no concern to the right; only discussions that focus on portraying the union in a bad light and portraying the company in a good light (as we see above). The same holds true in the other thread on the strike, where some posters in this thread have also piled on with useless, petty, and partisan slandering. Double dipping here, I suppose one could say. No doubt a third thread on this same subject (strike) may pop up, in which some righties can get the same disparaging load off their chest a third time. No pun intended. At least no one in this thread is threatening to shoot the strikers. Yet. .
Unemployment is running 9.1%. Fire them all and let the new hiring begin. There are some 14+ million people that are looking for work, they'd love to work for Verizon.
And thank you for joining us, Sparks. It just wouldn't be the same without you. I will admit that union thugs are a slam dunk. Wait, I just had an idea. Why don't the unions, instead of paying tens of millions of dollars to Democrat politicians use the money to start a phone company. Then, these union folks would "work" for them. Oh, wait. In a couple of years, if the hadn't gone broke yet, union folks would come in, organize the employees, and start extorting money from you, wouldn't they? Never mind.
Why don't the corporations, instead of paying tens of millions of dollars to Republican politicians use the money to buy some fitted bedsheets? You realize that without redistribution of wealth via a gov't protected monopoly in the early years (AT&T), Verizon very well might not even exist today? It was born, after all, as a Baby Bell company (Bell Atlantic). .
How can one debate the underlying issues with a bunch of feces being thrown , it is a (*)(*)(*)(*) poor way of drumming up support . I am ashamed I ever even belonged to a union
A proper union that actually represents its members' interests will always be in tension with management... it will not be in bed with management, or replace management. The goal of a union is to represent workers, not run a business.
Two questions for the tar-and-feather crowd: 1. Do you know what the strike is about? 2. Do you care?
Instead of doing your usual drivel while attempting to change the topic, why not start a thread sparky... in defense of the union strike? Or is sniping about it for you?
I'll mark your selection down as NO for both questions. As to the answer to your question, I don't care about the strike, don't know about the strike, don't know which side -- if any -- should be defended in the strike. But obviously neither does anyone else here -- the vast majority just hate on the union as a default position. I'm simply doing an impromptu ad hoc anthropological analysis-on-the-fly of these types of threads on that basis (contrived stories used to further bigoted ideological pre-dispositions). In a way, I guess you could say that I'm trying to divert the thread on topic To wit: Verizon is losing revenue on its wireline side and is asking wireline workers for concessions, instead of subsidizing the wireline side from the profitable wireless division. At least based on about 25 seconds of research... now that wasn't so hard, was it? http://www.pcworld.com/businesscent...strike_signals_shift_in_telecom_business.html
debunked? The judge made the statement. why are unions throwing (*)(*)(*)(*) at their own places of work?
