Are they still with an ideology that is bankrupt, maybe jay-vee? Time for our leaders to pull their fingers out of their ears, take their hands off their eyes, and realize this problem is not going away. Time to man up and do something.

They're talking about another ground war.

How many more times do we have to learn this lesson?

Nuke the Middle East, and be done with it.

You know the old saying - if you're not part of the solution then you're part of the problem. Does anything really think Obama is the solution?

Unfortunately, the use of Nukes would devastate the planet. And frankly, the muslim radicals aren't worth it. If it were me, we'd pull out the Dredsen playbook. Carpet bomb every terrorist operating site, which will leave far more direct devastation and lasting impact. You can't launch a bunch of nukes, but you can sure as hell terrorize people through submission in the air.

Make every terrorist realize they're not dying for 72 virgins, but to be burned to a crisp.

They just want to keep blaming Obama. They want him to ride to the rescue without using any troops or spending any money and get the job done within three minutes, but only if Congress approves. And then when it's over they don't want him to claim any credit for it. But if things go badly then they want to impeach him.

Come on, what's the worst that could happen? By the time an impeachment proceeding gets going we'll all be old and grey, and there's no way it'll finish before the end of the term, so its main purpose would be to be as loudly partisan as possible. Not a BAD use of taxpayer money, but there are better. Just sayin'.

So because I posted this, I'm supposed to have all the answers on what the solution is? Well, I would first start with naming our enemy and stop worrying about who I'm going to offend by doing so. They are Islamic terrorist. Obama cannot even say it. He thinks they are bankrupt and JV, so I"m guessing his isn't ready to take any real steps to help eradicate them.

Woah, no need to get defensive. I thought you wanted to discuss this issue. Otherwise, posting on a discussion forum seems rather a strange thing to do.

    Then what?

What does it help to refer to them as one thing rather than another? Are they easier to defeat by calling them something in particular?

    Defensive? I asked a question.

What does it help? If you don't know who your enemy is, how can you defeat them? Islamic extremist come in many more forms that just ISIS. They are growing in numbers across the middle east. You do not see the importance in knowing that fact? I think the only way we can defeat ISIS will involve joining forces with other countries, it will involve air strikes along with ground troops. If we continue to do what we are doing now, ISIS will eventaully be on our door step. However, with all that said, I am not privy to all the information since I am not in a position to have it. However, when I see the president refer to them as JV, an organization, a group with bankrupt ideology, and he says our greatest threat is environmental issues, I don't feel he is looking out for America's best interest. In fact, I'm not sure what he's doing because he doesn't seem to be in the same reality as the rest of the world.

Pay attention. That's exactly what's already happening.
These people are alienating everyone on the planet with their barbarism, which is a sign of their desperation and weakness.
They got the Iraqis, the Syrians, the Jordanians, the Saudis and the Egyptians against them now.
I would like to see a coalition of forces go in and hit them hard.

Already being done. What Obama is doing is coordinating with the countries in the Middle East and helping them out with support while avoiding the kind of full on invasion that caused this mess in the first place.

Do you think that ISIS, which is the de facto and de jure enemy of all the regimes in the whole Middle East, which has a military of merely a few tens of thousands, has the capacity to take over the entire Middle East and then proceed to military threaten any country in the western world?

So, you do not know what Obama is doing, but you've decided that it's wrong.

Would you say that's a reasonable attitude? If you don't know what he's doing, how do you know it's wrong?

And that JV comment? That was several years ago. How long will it take for you to stop holding that against him?

Yes, the JV comment was just over 2 years ago. And see what happens when you ignore radical islamic groups? They grow in strength and numbers.

No, I don't know exactly what Obama is doing, no more than you do. However, I do hear what he is saying to the American people and its not very comforting. He is more worried about solar energy and global warming.

So the more innocent people they kill, and the more they are growing in numbers, the more desperate and weak that makes them?

Dangerous neighborhood over there. That darn JV team seems hell bent on becoming the varsity squad. Good thing Obama has our country secured, otherwise some of their players might filter over our borders and start playing on our court.

Agreed and it's nice to see, however, excepting Egypt and Assad's Syria no other is engaging the enemy in a determined campaign. Egypt can and is influencing those ISIL brother and like minded organizations in its region (ISIL in Libya and Hamas in Gaza etc) but Egypt's determination cannot reach ISIL in its operating area, Syria, Iraq. Jordan is engaged but I'm not sure of the tactical effect of occasional air strikes.

In the face of this "new consortium" ISIL continues to grow and gain ground throughout the region and beyond. We are seeing ISIL influence in Africa, Lybia, as well as most all states in the middle east. The key here is gaining "ground", ISIL is more than AQ was, it might be destroying things but it is building a government and drawing converts and immigrants all sold on the idea of a Islamic State. AQ was about raids, ISIL is taking and holding ground. It's ideological brother in Africa is now doing the same, they are communicating and sharing strategy. Same with Libya.

ISIL is continuing to grow there isn't much more time. Every day they are consolidating forces, land, resources, income, trading partners and establishing a government, a state. It won't be long until they are recognized as a nation with embassies and consulates.

Agreed on the coalition of forces and hit them hard.

    Cheers

    The are determined, not magical.

Again, they are the enemies of all the regimes in the Middle East.

Do you seriously believe that they'll actually conquer and subjugate Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Jordan, KSA and Iraq all at the same time with a measly few tens of thousands?

They have so far managed to conquer exactly zero nations, and they are being fought back by exactly all the nations.
