I am suggesting that a tax on firearms (and ammunition-always willing to include more associated/accessory items) is akin to a poll or voting tax...previously judged unconstitutional. One distinction between your publishing purchase and my firearm purchase is that free speech can be exercised without a purchased instrument while without a firearm you cannot exercise the right to keep and bear arms. Absent a functional firearm, the right is essentially nonexistent. Did you know that in (at least) one state they do not tax the newspaper purchases or food, in another state they do not tax clothing. For the record I'm OK if the government doesn't or can't tax the purchase of a newspaper.
I thought he was a big Hildabeast fan! HIs posts prove my point-gun banners are all about harassing gun owners
The only reason why there isn't a bill is because, as she noted, she knew she didn't have the votes. The question is intent. You said "no one" wants to get rid of guns, and I showed you that was not a true statement. Not impugning your integrity or attacking you; just stating the simple fact there are people in power who would gladly ban all guns if they could.
Yea, just the very influential ones that implore legislators, entertainers, ad companies and pop culture in general to brainwash the youth of America, and shame them into believing that there is no legitimate use for firearms.
Not as few as you believe. There is a laundry list of people in power who have expressed the desire to enact draconian restrictions, up to and including blanket bans on firearms ownership. From Dianne Feinstein to Barbara Boxer, Charles Schumer to Richard Daley. Cuomo, Gillibrand, Durbin, Holder.... I could go on, but I think that's good enough to make the point.
