if you want to see the guns banned it starts at the bottom of page two in their following link

    https://lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2023-24/Pdf/Bills/House Passed Legislature/1240-S.PL.pdf?q=20230420113245

I will guarantee that they still see mass shootings. With guns that will now be deemed illegal. This will prompt a confiscation effort in the future.

or it may just get shot down by the courts. We will see

I think the federal court-at some level-will perform a colonoscopy on this state and it's idiotic laws.

They know this isn't going to save any lives, or will only have a very negligible almost insignificant impact on the total number of gun homicides.
It's so-called "salami tactics", gradually incrementally ban additional categories of guns, getting a little closer and closer to their real goal.

When they finally implement a policy banning all guns, at that point they will encounter less opposition because half the guns will already have been banned at that point. This is probably a terrible analogy but it kind of reminds me of that quote from Martin Niemöller (when the Nazis rounded up various groups one by one, not all at once, and nobody complained. "Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out, because I was not a trade unionist.")

Anyway, this is part of a phenomena going on on the entire West Coast, the states of California, Oregon, Washington.

That law will last just as long as it takes to be declared Unconstitutional in the nearest federal court.

"AK-47 in all forms" and "AR15 in all forms" makes it pretty clear it means any rifle using those platforms.

Like the 90s ban, it disallows the purchase of new rifles, but you can still keep the ones you already have

Washington has lots of gun crime. Banning them isn't going to suddenly stop shootings from happening. And while we fumble away on trying to do unconstitutional things, the state of Washington will continue not actually supporting their constitution and continue to let crime wash unabated across their state.

    "...says it 'will save lives'"

    In doing so, he lies.
And the useful idiots who support insanity like this do not care.

Did you read the list in the actual legislation I wrote. It goes deeper than just AK’s and AR’s.

and yes you can keep them but you can’t transfer them. What happens to them when you die? And this won’t stop mass shootings I guarantee it. I would bet good money on it. Care to make a bet?

I see they've included 80% receivers. Which means someone is designing a 79% receiver for sale in Washington. Does anyone care how this is to be enforced? Eventually we'll need a federal gunsmithing license just to buy scrap steel at the junkyard... or this is just more virtue signalling. More than half (2/3 or 3/4, I can't remember which) of our elected County Sheriffs have already stated they will not enforce such unconstitutional laws. The boldest of them, in Klickitat County, said he'll use his hundreds-strong posse (which already provides free security at county events and volunteer field support for SD deputies, saving the rural county massive amounts of money) to physically prevent enforcement of such unconstitutional laws within his jurisdiction by outside agencies. No one has yet challenged him on this.

We passed mandatory background checks in 2018, and we spend $10M per year administrating those background checks, yet in all that time and with all that money spent, we've only prosecuted one single person for strawpurchasing (and that after they shot someone), and our murder-by-shooting rate has doubled since then. Its state law that we have to store guns in a certified safe, but no one checks to see if we do. Also since passing these laws, gun sales steadily increase every year, from ~300K in 2017 to ~400K in 2022. With this law looming, expect 2023 to be another record setter for people buying guns. Its not the NRA boosting guns sales, its Democrat lawmakers threatenning to ban guns that boosts gun sales.

Now, would anyone like to posit on the reasoning for the recent surge in African Americans buying guns and the recent surge in Democrat lawmakers trying to ban them? Seems like a coincidence to me, but then again, most of what people scream 'institutional racism' looks like coincidence to me... what about this coincidence?

Yes, but that covers vast majority of the rifles they target.

Weren't you going to be buried with it anyway? :p

This kind of ban is designed to phase them out, as opposed to confiscate them.

its an incremental ban by scumbags. when this law is declared unconstitutional, the courts should allow owners to sue the governor in his individual capacity, as well as those who voted for it pursuant to 42 USC 1983 (deprivation of a constitutional right under the color of state law).

US gun control has always had a strong racist basis.

Good! Look at those countries where “assault weapons” are banned and look at the mass shooting rates.

How many times do you have to be told?

gun banning advocates consist of a combination of two types. the true believers-the ones that actually believe it is crime control, are accepting a faith based argument that they cannot prove but they believe in no matter what the facts are. Most only pretend to think its going to stop crime because they don't want to divulge their real reason-which is to harass lawful gun ownership

    This.

But hopefully there will be a recall effort too. Get some of those thugs booted out of office.

I hope one day that legislators who pass stuff that is clearly going to be struck down, to be liable PERSONALLY under 42 USC 1983

That would be a great idea, specially at a state level.

Nah... no bayonet lug and no adjustable butt stock as California says must be present to make an "assault weapon". Others may say its not since there is no Picatinny Rail.
