It is the reason some questions just go unanswered. This is all for amusement, essentially for a small group of posters at PF who have some interest in WW2. Like I said before- Dred's objections remind me of someone who complains about how bad that 3 hour TV program that they sat through was. If you don't like this thread- then don't participate in it and certainly don't complain about it. New question- and this one is obscure When Pearl Harbor was attacked, several Army pilots were able to take off and engage Japanese aircraft. There was also a flight of SBD's arriving from a carrier that were attacked. There were two other American ship launched planes that engaged a Japanese aircraft that day, damaging it or shooting it down(I found different claims). What kind of planes were they?
The Stukas were German aircraft and are not ship launched, though there was a plan in the works to build a variant that was carrier capable, the Ju-87C. I don't think any were ever built however.
yes but the yanks stole a bunch of stukas and used them and deleted it all from history..you won;t find that on google but it's the real history…the yanks had nothing to compare to German technology at the time…so they used German aircraft and then wiped all record of such… if you look in the movie pearl harbour there is a scene where a stuka disguised as US air force for a few seconds is on the screen...
Bantam also had a vehicle, but not the capacity to build enough. Ford built jeeps under license, called the GPW. They had some minor differences (and early models had "Ford" on the tailgate and Ford's script "F" on every small part), but they were clearly the same design.
lol i'm being an ******** i have had a rough time of it in the abortion section and needed to vent in a weird way.. i'll stay away a friend of mine who no longer seems to be around thought very highly of you The Big Kahunna when the internet was just a child we met and became friends and foes and friend and foes lol but he really is a very clever bloke.
I had a chance to buy a Ford jeep, fully restored to military for 3K but did not have the money at the time. I would love to have it now. There is one on Hemmings for sale now for 37K. This isn't it but it looked exactly like this.
When did studabaker make jeeps for the US forces? i don't know the answer…but i'm quite sure studabaker was the company for it's 6 cylinder engine was the one i had in my 59 Lark and that was indeed the jeep chassis and engine used for jeeps in the US forces at one time.
Don't know that they did. I was just guessing, i.e. not 'googling' for answers ... Companies like Ford, Dodge, and Chrysler, and Willys for that matter, were sort of incestuous in the early days. Many execs were employed at various times by each other. Dodge brothers used to own a chunk of Ford and built their engines and chassis until they had a falling out, for instance.
I don't think they did...they made a huge amount of trucks (most of which went to the Soviet Union), but not jeeps.
