In the past 100 years, especially in recent decades, more and more questions and criticize appeared. The reason is because the Commission has put their political views into the standards of the awards, which deviates the Nobel's will.
In the past 21 years, the Committee awarded the Peace Prize to two Chinese, one is the Dalai Lama, one is Liu Xiaobo. The former is to undermine national unity, separatist elements to split China; the latter one is inciting subversion of state power in custody offenders. Liu preached that "China should be a colonial for another three hundred years ", "China should be divided into eighteen countries." Is that a soldier of peace?
Because of the Nobel Prize does not have the independence in the actual operation, the Nobel Peace Prize has become a tool of some Western politicians, it is going farther and farther

When did he say these things? What do you have against democracy and human rights? Do you hate the Chinese people?

    The prize is worthless.

Obama won it and so did Shimon Peres

It means sadly nothing these days.

Liu Xiaobo certainly deserves the prize. He has suffered for years in a great cause. He thinks the Chinese people deserve democracy and human rights. He is a hero and we should all applaud his bravery.

:police: littlefisherman , lets talk ...

    look , you don't like Obama , it's ok .

what's not ok is making up a pack of lies , especially in the OP of a thread you have created ... it's sort of a hate thread , and that's a no-no .

Now , if you can tell me what Wars Obama has started , we'll call the rest even , you being a newbie , I'll give you the benefit of the doubt , but don't be suprised if the thread gets shut down , and try and make a better thread next time , and support it with facts next time . :gun:

I love China's cultural history and stuff. But honestly their government is corrupt as heck. I don't blame people for wanting to leave. Though they don't want to admit it, they're Imperialist. They've conquered unwilling peoples and now squash them with China's mass of power.

littlefisherman, this is the opinion threads where you are allowed to post YOUR opinions. I disagree with hillbilly, this isn't a hate thread no more than any of the others. Obama has encouraged the arab spring in the ME where many have been killed, also participated in Libyas war, only to send american troops to Africa so YES his noble prize was a farce and proven liability for the prize nomination process, especially with those who were competing against him. I like this thread and its title, it is significant in its presentation of truth!

So true. Each time they try to make another political statement, they tarnish the reputation of the award.

The absolute worst was when they presented the award to the american president, Obama, for so many different reasons. That one act alone did irreparable damage to international perceptions of the Nobel Prize. The future award winners, even if they are in fact deserving, will no doubt be held in somewhat lower esteem than they would have otherwise been.

I do not know why leftist-leaning "progressives" seem to find their way into non-profit boards and government positions, where they derail the operations for their own ends.

:) well now , algranny , you are exactly correct , post what you what , absolutely , post a hunurt ever day if ya can , , :pc:

Even as you and I may agree / disagree has yet to be determined , ,

but the important thing here is that even an opinion forum has standards . it's called the T.O.S. , and you need to read them , we all have ... :reading:

In my opinion , when the guy moved from his Nobel opinion of Obama and then linked that to a war & death rant the thread went toward a hate thread , that's how hate threads start , and I did give the guy a chance to respond as to what wars Obama has started , but he got his-self banned before he could reply , go figger , ya know ? sheeeshh ..

People that have been here a while and cruise the threads expect the OP to be credable , and many times my reply to the OP will be the only post I'll make on a thread , I saw this thread was started badly and said so . I hope he comes back from ban-land and makes better posts / threads. :twocents:
