The Palestinians most certainly wanted to be a country....and please remember the Balfour Declaration

It might surprise you but the biggest opponents to a Jewish State in Israel was originally Jews. Concerning the Mandate we now know that the British had not a clue what they were doing. They thought both Jews and arabs were backward and expected to get fruit out of Palestine for some time. It was quite a surprise to them to discover that both Arabs and Jews wanted a State. Reasons given for the Balfour Declaration are, payment for war services from Weizmann, buying US Jews to get the US into the war, Christian Zionism and just plain antisemitism - get rid of Jews which is one of the reasons that many British Jews were originally strongly against the Balfour Declaration.

The indigenous population wanted one country for everyone. There were many Jews who felt this way too but unfortunately the more aggressive managed to squash their voices. This is recorded in the British archives. Not only that the Palestinians were willing to consider a two state solution if it was fair. That too is recorded in the British archives. The British archives describe the Jews at that time as acting very aggressively similar to the Nazi's. The Palestinians had little ability to defend themselves against the Jews due to the brutality of the British against the 36-39 uprisings. However there were as I said Jews who were humanitarian and liberal and I guess the hope of the UK/US committee was that in the future they could gain more sway. It was certainly the hope of the British during the war years.

Yes, I originally thought of using the word humility. No person of humanity would not be moved. However the key point was US bribery/blackmail.

You ignore most of what is said and play games all the time. Some day you may be interested in a little more.

Nope. They refused the whole idea. Didn't want to talk about it and instead wanted to kill the Jews.

Ok, lets see some proof then please rather than innuendo and allusion.

I was going to say the same about you but you were too busy avoiding the actual issue which is that Israel is a legal nation and country and bit*hing about it is not going to change that fact..

I see what you mean. I just thought it a little sketchy to even say that a people can really claim a land for themselves, but certainly not a religion. It's just a belief. I was wondering was there an authentic connection between the present day Jews and the Hebrew Jews, but I had time to think about it and it's a worthless question. Most of Europe probably shares some lineage with Romans. Doesn't mean they have a claim on the empire.

On my visits to the Holy Lands (including Jerusalem) Muslims and Christians got along fine... and if you look at old photos from the 1880s and 1890s.. it appears that they also got along with the small Jewish population.

This isn't about Arab Jews, Christians or Muslims..... Its about European Zionism.

I think that in another few years, if anybody not born in Israel was sent home there would still be a problem.
