It's this easy (at its simplist level).

    Buy apple juice from supermarket
Put apple juice and prepped yiest into bottle with air lock
Wait till it fully ferments (no more bubbles through air lock)
    Drink

You can add syrup to change flavor and increase alcohol level
You can make sparkling by adding sugar (carefully) before bottling
Grolsh type bottles are best as they are strong and have on-off lids
You can juice your own apples which gives better flavour

Distilled water, rain water, or pure grain alcohol.

    My own homebrew, on tap.

Vienna lager almost ready to go...

    - - - Updated - - -

I did my first cider experiment recently but it came out tasting like prison hooch. Too much sugar I think. I want it to stay sweet, so I have to halt fermentation at some point. Not exactly sure how to go about doing that, yet.

I'm only seventeen, so I'll just say that I don't drink. But If I did, but as I'm a lawful guy I don't *wink wink* I'd drink cider because I haven't gotten used to the other stuff which mostly taste like crap. I'm thinking mead will be my favourite though, and it's the viking drink also so that's cool.

For me its more like what I wont drink.

Jack Daniels because I loaded up on it on one of my birthdays years ago. Fell down and looked like a unicorn for about a week.
Gin because I tried it and I dont like.
Anything thats blue. Blue is not a natural color for a drink.
Any liquor that smells like iodine or beer that smells like skunk.

    My favorites.
Coffee, Budweiser, vodka and MT Dew, frozen margaritas or shots of tequila with lemon and salt.
Oh and water so I dont wake up with a hangovah.

I had raspberry vodka yesterday. I didn't like it. I like the berry margaritas. Mostly now its natural ice beer in the 16oz cans. They have some pretty funny
pics at college humor for that beer- its hilarious.

Of note : Yesterday was my birthday.

I have a moonshine I got at the liquor store for my brother-in-law. (I'll post a pic of it here)

Scotch when I can afford it. Which isn't often seeing as how I like the expensive stuff. And I don't go out much, and am paranoid of getting a DUI.

You took your handle from a quite good Belgian beer, so obviously you know full well about Belgian beer. Yet you want us to believe English beer is comparable? Not even close. I personally like Bavarian beer and Belgian beer the best, and there is some decent American craft beers. However on the whole American craft breweries are too obsessed with overwhelmingly hoppy beers. With that high level of hops, all other tastes are overwhelmed. There is no subtlety of flavor in the beer, just overwhelming bitterness from the hops.

Anyways, I'll take a Westmalle Tripel or a St Bernardus 12 over any English beer in existence.

PS. I actually don't drink beer as a first choice. I am more a cocktail sort of guy. Give me a good old fashioned or a Ramos Gin Fizz (pretty much anything with gin or whiskey actually, except for Manhattans). The craft cocktail scene that has emerged in the US over the last 10 years has turned what was once watered down sugary crap, into an art-form. The complexity of flavors used in cocktails these days is incredible.
