    1. Do you think that the number of legal immigrants permitted into the US, which is 800,000 a year, is too high or too low?
    Too high.

    2. Do you think illegal immigration is a problem?
    Yes.

    3. Do you think that illegal immigrants are a burden or are of benefit to society?
This is a pretty complex question that can't be answered simply.

    4. Do you feel that an illegal immigrant student who is planning to graduate from college should be given a visa in order to finish college or should be deported?
If they are already in college, give them a visa.

    5. Rate how you feel the Obama Administration is handling the issue of immigration.
I'll just say "Don't Know" for now.

Can anybody answer me the simple question that since illegals are not entitled to welfare by law, how could they cost tax-payers more than average American citizens?

My solution would be to give VISA to anyone that wish to work.

1 too high, we are a nation of immigrants, but cannot sustain many more people as it is.

2 and 3 huge problem, they come here, work for pennies, so citizens can no longer compete with them because they cannot survive on those wages (slave wages).

4 any person that comes here illegally, should be deported, period.

5 very, very poorly, he has stopped deportations of the majority of illegals, and imparted nesty without the paperwork.

you're fooling yourself if you think americans will do the jobs immigrants are now doing...and expect higher cost of living as americans demand higher wages than immigrants are willing to work for...

Americans will do those jobs, if paid at least minimum wage for them, costs would go up, necissarily so, but I would gladly pay more for fruit and vegetables, and for Construction contractors knowing that my fellow citizens were employed not an illegal slave force.

Supporting illegal immigration= supporting modern day slavery

Why don't you set up a donation fund to American minimum jobs workers to comepensate them, while the rest of us enjoy the low cost comparative advantage brought by the immigrant labor force?

We don't need immigrants. We already have a plethora of unskilled and uneducated Americans that can fill their jobs.

Besides, low level prisoners should be put to work for free. It's a win-win for farmers especially. Farmers not only don't have to pay anyone but they get to keep all the profits.

I'm sure the US system is no different than ours, in order to collect social benefits proper documentation is required...just lying about their legal status wouldn't be enough...

no they won't...most Canadians won't do those jobs for minimum wages and I'm sure americans are no different, often back breaking disgusting jobs in horrid conditions, jobs traditionally filled by the uneducated, students, immigrants or migrant workers...minimum wages in canada are likely higher in canada ($8.75-11.00 depending on province) than in the US and they're insufficient to survive on often a second job is required to feed the kids or pay the rent, we call these people the "working poor"...

Work anywhere else? The reason why they came to America is because of higher expected wages. And there is shortage of labor for low skilled jobs near our borders.

    Open border labor market=racist?

    Not enough of them.

We should listen to the employers. They want the immigrants to be there.

I'm sure most came just to find a job, any wages they receive are far more than they could earn at home...the number one reason people emigrate is for work/survival not freedom and democracy...

which was always the US did in the past, market demand dictates the numbers...but with the ease of travel compared to past centuries there needs to be a control on numbers so that it doesn't overwhelm the social system, there is a finite number any country can absorb per year...

I agree. And it is good for the economy. There is also little evidence of depression of wages of American workers because they largely came to fill a sector severely short of labor. The only thing that can be negative in the short run is a temporay strain on the public good provision.

Why? Folks at that income level don't pay income taxes, they get more back than they pay in through earned income credits and bambino deductions.

negative, it is not good. No depression of wages? Are you serious? They have flooded the construction field, to the point were u.s. Citizens cant get work in that field in many areas. ILLEGAL= ILLEGAL, send them packing
