    (Too high/Too low)

    2. Do you think illegal immigration is a problem?
    (Yes/No)

    3. Do you think that illegal immigrants are a burden or are of benefit to society?
(They are a burden/They are of benefit)

    4. Do you feel that an illegal immigrant student who is planning to graduate from college should be given a visa in order to finish college or should be deported?

The number of illegals will never be adequately measured unless we count everybody.

Why don't we just count everybody and make them tax paying citizens, isn't that the only logical solution?

If illegal immigration is illegal, the rest doesn't matter.

The problem is the selectivity in using the law for nefarious purposes.

I don't think most illegals especially want to be here, it's that their own country has made it impossible for them to survive. Mexico has to be reformed big time.

true enough...the vast majority of immigrants are economic ones...if people have jobs, shelter and security they are happy to stay where they are....I've made two made major moves, coming to Canada with my father who was looking for stable employment, then again within Canada looking for the same within Canada...

Corruption needs to be weeded out -that's the change that is needed.

    1. That cannot be determined without an accurate count..but economic conditions might indicate any is too many right now.

    2. Yes..one of the most costly..and dangerous ideas ever allowed to occur.

    3. That's hard to say without a count..some work..some dont.some are criminals..some are not..just like the rest of society. But If they were counted and documented..we would know wouldn't we ?

    4. Only if they chose to obey our laws and become a documented immigrant or a citizen.

    5. No different than BUSH.
We need no new laws ..only enforcement of existing codes.
Violation of the 1st law they face is the first test they fail..any other country sends them packing..
How can you give anything to those who come illegally to cheat on our system ?

I don't think there should be a limit to the number of peaceful immigrants who come here to work or travel or enjoy property/investments.

    Yes.

Generally a benefit, however the laws which create illegal immigration lead to all sorts of burdens on the market and on taxpayers.

I am a proponent of free markets, and labor is a market. I would like to work towards a loose immigration policy. Becoming a citizen of our country was never intended to be burdensome. I am not naive, I understand the security threat that we face. However, that mainly comes from drug related issues and not terrorist type activities. If one thing has become rather clear it is that terrorist do not need to sneak across the border to get into our country. In terms of drug and gun running, the vast majority of it could be wiped out if we made these actions inefficient and an activity which will not lead to financial gain.

If I had power I would put a 25 year stop on all immigration to this country.
A total ban on all immigration from communist and islamic countries.
If we did this we could absorb the illegals here now.
I'd put a 15 yr wait on all immigrants applying for any welfare.
No foreign student from a communist or Islamic country would be allowed in for study
Very few if any work visas would be issued.

Um who would harvest our crops? American workers will not do it. More work visas would be better combined with stronger enforcement of current laws to protect our borders.

    1. Do you think that the number of legal immigrants permitted into the US, which is 800,000 a year, is too high or too low?
Too high (at least until the number of illegals is reduced significantly...I'd support increasing the number of legals at the expense of decreasing the number of illegals)

    2. Do you think illegal immigration is a problem?
    Yes

    3. Do you think that illegal immigrants are a burden or are of benefit to society?
    They are a burden

    4. Do you feel that an illegal immigrant student who is planning to graduate from college should be given a visa in order to finish college or should be deported?
Should be deported (undermines the law)

You would if you get hungry enough!!!!

Sorry but how did crops get harvested before all the 15 million illegals showed up? I'll tell ya how. They were paid alot more. The illegals drive down wages and you know it!!!

If the market were allowed to work this crap wouldnt be needed. We need to do away with all farm subsidies. The DOA needs to be cut way back. Let the market work.

We used to allow migrant workers from Mexico to come and go freely. They would come for picking season, and go home. When we stopped letting them in so easily, illegal immigration became a problem.

which is what we do in canada...we're actually trying to get more Mexicans on temporary work permits, they come in for the summer and harvest season then go back home to their families, some have been doing this for many years....it's better for them financially that way as well, the money they earn here isn't enough to support a family but it goes a long way in Mexico...

Since the 1996 welfare reform act, illegal aliens cannot receive benefits. They do work since many are willing to hire them. So explain to me why they are costly?

The democrats are not going to push it through since illegals are good scapegoats for job loss. The republicans' second best choice is to have as many illegals as possible since this is the best case form them, as illegals only work and are not illegible for welfare.

    1) Neither toohigh nor too low.
    2)Yes ( See answer 3)
    3) They are a burden. Too many of them are on welfare or commit crimes and wind up in prison.
    4) This is a question that needs to be treated by individual case. Some should be given a visa and some should be deported.
    5) EXTREMELY POORLY
