You got something to worry about when Russia and China backs up Korea.
It didn't went down superb the previous time.

Bragging rights on the internet, mostly.

The British Empire ruled 2/3 of the world and we are proud of that. Not that anyone alive here had anything to do with it.
The most powerful human in history was a British woman.
We feel we've been there, seen it, done it. An empire is not what we seek. No one is going to beat our world domination record. We will always have bragging rights on this. But we don't actually want all the **** that comes with it. The expense and the moaning from all the rest of the world who hates us for being more successful than them.

I feel a cultural connection to Commonwealth counties. A kinship. Aussies, New Zealanders and Canadians. Extended family. An honour debt is owed. Even the coloured peoples. Nigerians and Indians. Like a good curry. Like a good black fellow who speaks posher than I do. (instead of like Busta Rhymes)
We still have the hang overs of Empire. Terrorism, immigration and people trying to tell us how evil we are.

But we look at countries so desperate to achieve global greatness.... and yawn. Not interested.

When countries like Russia and America get given all that **** about their interventions. How evil they are and so on. It's what they themselves used to say about us.
    Now they know.

There is no evidence of that happening.

I just think it sucks that after all that, Europe lost control of the world and their population is declining.

In 100 years, Africa may be more powerful than Europe, let alone China. Maybe South America too.

Eeep that is bleak your outlook but one thing is for sure China has always looked out for China and they are doing very well right now. They also plan decade's ahead. 100 years ahead I bet on some levels. Things are looking up for them atm.

I really see them pulling the plug on Kim, then they hold more cards.

    We are a liberal society.
The home of Liberalism. It is not power over you that I seek. It is for you to have no power over me.
I don't want control over the world. Just over myself.

Not really. Russia has had the ability to nuke the US for decades, yet I doubt very many people would want to invade the place.

Hundreds of thousands of dead US soldiers.

I doubt very many people, outside and inside the US, want to turn North Korea into Syria 2.0

Sure, you could target nuclear facilities, but that would do nothing to remove Kim Jong Un from power.

    Actually, yes there is.
China and Russia both arm North Korea and China has a mutual defence pact with them. Russia has a training program with them.
Both China and Russia have mobilised troops to the NK border. But the only troop movements I've seen from either have been AA systems.
I can't see why you would send your AA divisions only to secure a border against mass migration.
There is only one thing they can be for.... to shoot down US equipment.
And this pretty much mirrors their response to the last Korean war.

We'll just have to wait and see what Trump has in store.

He sure as hell won't tell any of us before it happens.

I don't see what China or Russia have to gain from attacking America.

Btw, I've also read that both Chinese and Russian navies are mirroring the American fleet.

Who cares who is in power in North Korea?
The power we care about is their power to hurt their neighbours and us. Not the name of their ruler.

They say no. And at the first sign the US is about to hit NK, they send their missiles with mustard gas and nerve agents to Japan and South Korea killing 10's of millions of people... because the US started that war.

Besides that the US will have their armies at their doorstep...
that is what the US got to gain, and China and Russia to stop.

Also.. Russia deployed its aircraft carrier destroyer to that area.

They wouldn't be attacking America. They would be defending Korea. And themselves.

Once you've done, Syria. Won it. Done Iran. Won it. Done North Korea. Won it.
    Who is next?

They know you hate them. They aren't dumb. You aren't China or Russia's friends. You've spent the last 70 years preparing for war with them and trying to usurp all their allies against them.

I Google the same words four of five times a day, but I'm hoping for another Trump flip-flop.
You are aware a U$ attack on NK could result in million$ of innocent casualties?

How many millions was it last time? 2 or 4 I think.

It's much easier to predict how wars will start, than it is how they will end.

America isn't stupid enough to pick on countries that can defend themselves.

None of us want war with China or Russia.

How is it that China and Russia would defend the crazy North Koreans instead of the peaceful South? That says a lot about them.

The USA isn't going to attack Russia or China. We want a free, democratic, capitalist world.

I think the biggest problem maybe that Kim Jong Un might some what believe the BS propaganda. Unlike his father who made up the BS to sell to the people. Another problem is the generation that were not taught at school that Kim Jong Il and now his son are basically saviors and god like is dead or close to dying off.

Then we have a President who likes praise and admiration. The most he has received in his Presidency so far was after the strike against Syria. His budget also suggest his view on how diplomacy should be carried out. His failure to staff positions in the Statement Department also suggest this. IMO we will see threats and allegations true or false. Followed by military strikes.

I think China can put a lot of pressure on North Korea if they want to. It is estimated China accounts for around 70% of exports and 60% of imports to N. Korea. They certainly can put pressure on them if they want. I guess it will require some support from the people making the money in this situation. A little off topic but a defector that work for the government says businesses dealing with China are required to give 50% of the profits to Office 38. Which is the office that handles Kim Jung Un personal finances.

Too bad it appears Xi Jinping did not have the same view as Trump did about their meeting. Their state run media has been bashing trump pretty hard. Some speculate China much preferred KIm Jung Un's uncle in power since he scaled back military spending and caused them fewer headaches. China's actions suggest this also. Voting, prior to Trump taking office they voted for sanctions in the UN. They also late in 2016 moved not to import one of Korea's most important exports coal from them.

Maybe some more talks with China and a deal to not put our guy in power there will work. China must realize KIm Jong Un's actions threaten stability in the region and their own security.

History is full of examples where countries have been stupid enough to pick on countries that can defend themselves.
Dare I say "Vietnam". I'll go one failed war further back into time. North Korea. America attacked it..... but was repulsed.

Look at this forum. Read the posts. The cultural hatred for Russia and China in America is obvious. It's deep felt and the product of generations of brainwashing propaganda in advance of a perceived war. Commies! Better dead than Red!

Obama made China his military focus.
Russia has been encircled and NATO's borders expanded because America smelt ***** after the dissolution of the USSR.
They know it. You can play innocent... like you are all great friends... but you don't act it.

My whole point exactly, we Americans so safe with our oceans protecting us from other than a super power are so.. Glib with our posts of " takem out" because our distance and military protect us.

CMON China wack Kim ( assassinate) before we do I'll say again, if we hold too much influence with both Koreas then China will feel threatened and its best we leave the Han be imo

I just hope that either China or Russia doesn't attack the USA.

Also, I'm not sure how exactly you topple a dictator without invading their country with land troops. And I'm also not sure how you conquer North Korea without encroaching on the Chinese and Russian borders.

There is no good answer to this stuff.

But letting the "crazy fat kid" stay in power is not a good answer, either.

But we didn't KNOW Vietnam could defend itself. We would never pick on someone close to our own size intentionally.

Everybody knows that there will be no winners in a Nuke war. Putin is too bent upon his position and prestige. Russia is not going to risk Nuke war in this chess game. Conventional confrontation requires economical backbone in this industrial age. Russia or China are no match for USA. Their leaders are too shrewd not to understand this. Thus direct confrontations will not start from their side. I do worry about our foolish leadership. But I believe our diffused power structure of democracy will keep us from going far.

The imminent danger I see is that of us getting our hand getting caught in cookie jar(s) of non-winnable wars with Putin's stooges. Russia fights proxy wars. In today's small, mechanized world, even when trying to capture the opponents pawn, you need to worry about the bishops, rooks and queens.
