Stateism will likely take over because Laïcité and other secular systems will strengthen.

It makes sense given that the state is what protects our persons and rights.

A shame as Gnostic Christianity is superior. Oh well, sure beats having some imaginary god.

Sure better than saying some spirit is using us and our bodies as mules or some kind of creature to be used and discarded.

That is way too much like Jesus being used as a mule by Yahweh.

    Lol...Yes. Good point!
The most popular and growing religion these days is gun ownership.
People worship their assault rifles...they cannot imagine life without them.
I don't doubt some will want to be buried with them.

Not to the people running it: power, influence, money. It's a good business model.

Yeah, but we're the only creatures that make complex computing machines that link together over vast distances and allow us to have stupid arguments from the comfort of home :D

one other purpose is helping people deal with the death of a loved one, right now it's an unknown and some people can't deal with not knowing, it allows one to say your loved one is in a better place (if they believed), otherwise it doesn't work, but you get the point

I believe our life force entered the vessel of life once it was ready to support our life force

and I believe once the vessel we call a body can not support our life force, we move on

I will admit this is just a belief, I could be wrong

In my world, belief applies to something that has a proof of concept.

I have yet to hear or see anyone dead communicate and have no belief.

I would not want such a belief based on nothing concrete, because I might not like a living afterlife and do not want to live with the apprehension.

If heaven is as biblically described, I want hell. Meet you there buddy.

    Regards

And they are prey to lying preachers who live on the gullible and most vulnerable, while we let them do so tax free.

Yep. Our lying about death sure has served us well. Not.

Giving hope is one thing, Giving harmful lies is another.

my belief is based on an out-of-body experience I had when I was a child, I agree, would be harder to believe without that

and even with it, I still think it could have just been a weird dream that felt so real, but as it's never happened since, no way to know for sure until I die

what if after we leave this body we are like mosquito's attracted to the light, the light of life, the life of a tree being born, the life of a flower being born, the life of a baby being born, what if the only way to escape this life death cycle is to learn to find peace with your mind while on earth while in human form, so that when you separate from this body, you can regain control of your consciousness and control your destiny, decide not to enter the light, we always hear about entering the light, what if entering the light is the doorway to rebirth? (reincarnation)

totally agree, and anyone that says they 100% know what is on the other side of death, is lying or is trying to convince themselves

Better to hope for adulthood than rebirth.

I cannot see a consciousness making a yoyo out of himself.

It, like us may evolve and the butterfly likely cannot remember it's former life.

Who can say what mysteries await.

agree, I think the former lives memories are stored in the brain of the former life

the proof of this is that we can lose our memories from brain damage while alive in this life

I would prefer to live in a world without religions or any belief in the supernatural. Humanity needs something to replace

traditional religions and secular humanism is appealing to me. I know that there are some who consider humanism

a religion but I disagree. I define religion in a way that involves some belief in a supernatural world or animism -
    1. the attribution of a soul to plants, inanimate objects, and natural phenomena.

Religions serve a purpose or else they wouldn't be so prolific and play such a central role in human civilization.

Some of the purposes of religion involve: stress reduction, social cohesion, giving people a sense of purpose, making sense of an unjust world, and charitable giving to the needy.

Religions can help people get along, but those religions associated with Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are some that promote in-group cohesion, but out-group hatred,

and the degree of out-group hate depends on the particular version of those religions.

What Purpose Does Religion Serve? Why Does Religion Continue | Bartleby

Moreover, researchers have correlated religion with increased life expectancy, longevity, and lower mortality rates (Chiswick & Mirtcheva, 2013; George et al., 2000; Lee & Newberg, 2005; Marks, 2005). Evidently, religion and spirituality produce positive biological health outcomes.
Furthermore, religion and spirituality positively affect psychological aspects of health. George et al. (2000) declared that religious involvement is associated with positive mental health outcomes such as a lower prevalence of anxiety and depression. Other research similarly presents religion as a protective factor against depression, anxiety, and suicide (Chiswick & Mirtcheva, 2013; Koenig, 2009; Lee & Newberg, 2005). In addition to deterring mental health issues, religion and spirituality facilitate positive mental orientations such as happiness, increased self-esteem, and improved life satisfaction (Lee & Newberg, 2005; Marks, 2005). There are many benefits of religion and spirituality for psychological health.

Way out of my knowledge limit.

Things like the Father Complex may be all we are dealing with.

I have had family members with Alzheimer, sad it happens, but it does, many say it's caused by type 3 diabetes now

so if people can lose their memories in this life, what makes people think we keep them in the next
