    Everyone social distance, everyone wear masks, all businesses close. Now once results begin to show different results in different areas there can be considerations made. See how easy that was?

    Yes it is. Now compare state populations, and areas most affected in each....

    All businesses close?

    Where are you going to get your groceries, who is going to keep the utilities on line, medical services? Necessary pharmaceuticals? Diapers? Plumbing issues? The list goes on and on.

    So what if someone has emphysema, wear your mask! Respiratory issues? Wear your mask!

    Your response shows a lack of comprehension of what absolute statements actually mean.

    Good god man, I kept my response brief because I felt that was all the attention your posting was worth. My apologies for not say "except essential services". Is that better?

    To contain a pandemic in a democratic system you need the cooperation of the population.
    In China they can use the Army to force the population to stay at home. In the "Free World" we can just make persons pay a fee ...
    It's different, you know.

    Now, I know what NBC emergencies are. The main point is to persuade the population to follow basic NBC rules.
    To wear a mask [technically there would be some aspects to underline about this, but if all the citizens wear a mask, this is quite irrelevant];
    to keep social distance [don't touch the bum of the first nice girl you note around!];
    to often sanitize your hands;
    to avoid to gather in close rooms.

    These 4 rules are not so difficult to follow [may be apart the one regarding not to touch the bum of the nice girls, if you're a sexual maniac!].
    The population of our countries is not doing this ... and this is the problem.

    The government can impose all the rules it wants, but without the active cooperation of the population there will be nothing to do.
    In EU, because of the delay in the supplies of vaccines, we are realizing that the population is fed up. Europeans are no more so ready to follow the rules. It's the other way round: the governments "declare" restrictions ... police forces endorse those restrictions in a very light way.

    So those businesses you feel are 'essential' can stay open to serve you, but everyone must follow your guidelines and everything would be fine?

    Since you declined to actually post what you meant, it is my post that made you do it. Ok, lol.

    Since I used the Tri-State area and Tennessee as my examples of how 'one size does not fit all', lets make it simple.

    NY population density: 414 people per square mile
    • New York: population density 2018 | Statista

    TN population density: 162 people per square mile.
    • Tennessee: population density 1960-2017 | Statista

    I would have immediately quarantined nursing homes and would have gotten the message out to Senior adults, the respiratory compromised, and severely obese that they should isolate and be on their toes. It is up to them and everyone else. I would have done just what Donald Trump did with Operation Warp speed and I would have given Dr. Fauci a different job.

    Ah, so now you are playing move the goal posts, since you can't actually respond to the issue of 'one size does/does not fit all.

    You enjoy your alone time with changeable subjects, and have yourself a nice day.

    1. The most important factor was our ''Point of Entry''.......from Feb 1st to March 13th......over 1 million UNSCREENED paid passengers from Europe who landed in NY.

    2. The most significant factor in the spread of Covi19 is human behaviour

    3. By population density, Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana is the largest Metro in the U.S., however, NO FIRST WAVE

    https://www.google.com/search?q=cal...i433j69i60.16586j0j9&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

    -------------

    THUS, yes, population density, Hubs, Locations, are factors in the spread of Covid19, however, the factor that significantly increased South Dakota's death figures above National average is HUMAN BEHAVIOUR/Superspreaders.

    Unless you were something like FDR in his first term or Lincoln when the Civil War started you almost certainly could've done none of that.

    I would've broadcast PSAs, as many as possible and as often as possible, telling everyone that covid was a conspiracy theory and the govt has the situation totally under control and theres absolutely nothing to fear, but talking about it could make you a terrorist.

    Everyone would've taken it way more seriously.

    None of which actually has any relevance to, bearing on or for that matter history of working as a method of disease control. And I do mean any disease not just COVID. (Apart from 5 of course which mainly seems to be about NOT spending money on COVID.)

    Errr, I don't know. Maybe listening to expert medical advice on public health & disease control would be a good thing? Just putting in out there as an option of course.

    Had Trump took a full blown Nationalist approach to it, I can just imagine the howling by Democrats. Of course, when Biden a democrat basically takes on a national program, he takes full credit and democrats are fine with it. That's just the nature of 2016-2020 and we all know it.

    It's Republicans who would be howling, even if Trump did it, Democrats are much more in favor of a nation approach - you can see this in practically every policy from health care to economic policies

    but your fellow Democrat voters and your elected officials were too busy impeaching the POTUS for something that he didn't do

    see how easy that was

    So you don't think stopping the hundreds of thousands of protestors over 8 months would have any value?
    Anyone can listen to medical experts. What would you implement that wasn't done?

    Bottom line, when Trump was told of the virus and started the travel bans, the Democrat media and Democrat party were impeaching him for something that he didn't do..

    No, he was being impeached for abusing his office, and that was clear from the evidence that was published. Not that his impeachment was any excuse for his failure to address the pandemic responsibly. At the very least, he could have refrained from calling it a hoax and calling on thugs to "liberate" their states from lock-downs, and could have supported wearing masks.

    Travel bans were practically useless with the virus already here and his awful messaging and chaotic government response. Holding campaign rallies was also a pretty bad idea.
